Ty Law

I was really unhappy with this move. That was because I was delusional enough to believe there was a chance that Mangini and Law were delusional enough to think he could walk in off the street and cover anybody one on one. Other than a few plays where they did just that with Gaffney, and that fear was confirmed, they used Law brilliantly.

Welcome back, Ty.

I think if Law had a full week to practice he would have been more effective. You could see on one play after a Gaffney catch infront of him that he messed up the coverage signal. Still he played very good and I think in this defense with this pass rush he will have a great impact.

Its true. Having Law harass Moss all night (except for the TD) was effective. Kudos to Belicheck too for finding the weak link in the Jets defense and exploiting it again and again (ie, Lowery in man coverage and the hole up the middle for Cassell to run wild).

Law was a good move...good veteran leadership, great for depth, and as we saw last night he can still be effective... Lowery really gets attacked and while he is capable of making plays, its kind of unfair to leave him on an island against starting NFL receivers in his first year....not everyone can be Revis...I think Lowery will be a solid starting cb, but it will take time...

Correct. Not everybody has the options that the Patriots have (Moss, Welker, Watson, Faulk, etc.). The Jets would do a great job on three of them and then one of them would beat single coverage and Cassel found them every time. Hopefully, from here on, the jets will be able to keep using Law in a way that reduces the exposure of Lowery and the LBers.

Nice post D. Even on the Moss TD Law was all over him. Couldn't have played any tighter without a flag being thrown.

I admit when I am wrong- but Law played well and looked in shape especially since he was inactive the entire season beforehand.

I was surprised at how much he played. Inactive players always say how they are in great shape etc but you and I know how that goes.
