Jets Babe
And aren't we in 1st place right now? What's with the negativity on the board today..be thankful. Couple random thoughts.. -Mike Nugent is shaking in his cleats..and I'll tell you why. Jay Feely has been hot lately. He kicked that 55 yarder last week (showing that he has a great leg). He is better on kickoffs. And, most importantly, he came through in the clutch. -Favre looked like he was crying after the game, and called this game one of his best in his career. -Dustin Keller showed a lot of poise after dropping that sure TD grab. He didn't let that get to his head and did what he had to do. -Leon Washington is ****ing FAST. -Back to Keller, Favre loves him. He said that DK doesn't realize how good he really is. I think that Keller is going to be something special. -Where the hell was Gholston? Does he even play on this team? -Mangini coached conservatively in the 2nd half and I hate that prevent defense, BUT, overall, he did a great job. -When Jenkins is in the game playing with our defense, they all come together. When he's out of the game, our D looks lost. Jenkins is such a great player. He's a legit contender for DPOY. Great win by the Jets. Lets crush the Titans next week. villain_the_foe
-Where the hell was Gholston? Does he even play on this team? funny but true. Ellis sat out a play or two. That was the perfect time to put Gholston on the line and tell him to rush. He's a freak of nature body wise, but the kid is limited. He's not a multi position athlete at the moment. use him for what he does best and get this kid some damn experience.

ZachEY
I don't think anyone is being 'negative' right now, though admittedly, I'm skimming the board, too much work to do today. But people are raising some legit concerns and issues. At the end of the day, we were all thrilled we won, excited about Tenn and the rest of the season... but there are certainly things to talk about, how many times can I post: VICTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, I totally agree, but he needs to be in there when playing a team like the Pats. Mayo knows what it is to be part of this rivalry, and he showed up last night. Gholston needs to find a way to be part of this team.

Speaking of rookie linebackers, did anyone have Mayo on their radar? That kid was like a missile hitting anything that moved out there. I did not remember him from the draft. Gholston still looks lost.

That kid was like a missile hitting anything that moved out there. I did not remember him from the draft. Gholston still looks lost. During the draft, everyone (me included) was saying that Mayo was a huge reach. Mayo turned out to be a good pick. Then again, people said we reached for Keller and Keller is turning out to be amazing.
DMaynard
-Back to Keller, Favre loves him. He said that DK doesn't realize how good he really is. I think that Keller is going to be something special. You can tell Favre really likes this kid and sees his potential. Favre is also a lot smarter than the general perception about him. Notice how in between the praise of Keller, he mentioned the dropped TD. That was to keep Dustin from getting a big head and to push him to be better. Also notice how several times this year Favre, in explaing a play that was completed to Keller, mentions that Keller was the third or fourth option on the play. That is a subtle way of telling Mangini and Shotty to get this kid more involved in the offense.

BTW, ever notice that he looks like Ben Harper?

I agree with most of this, but whats with the sudden Jay Feely love fest? He had one good game last week, I would hardly call that hot. This is the same guy who was still missing 30-something yarders just 2 weeks ago. I still don't trust him at all when he steps out there. He hit two field goals this week, the longest being 34 yards. That wasn't clutch, that is a kick that every NFL kicker is expected to make 100% of the time. If he misses that kick he would be a bigger loser than Doug Brien. He was a god awful kicker a few weeks ago and he has couple of good weeks and people are ready to put him in Canton. Nugent may not be the greatest, but I don't want this team having to rely on Feely come playoff time. Whatever the complete opposite of clutch is, thats what this guy is. Other than that, after last night I've got some serious man love going for Favre, Keller and Jones. This game was won by the Jets offense and these 3 guys were by far the superstars of the night. But of course, what Jets/Patriots game would be completely without some ridiculous play made by Cotchery the Patriots killer? What a ****ing catch. But I do not trust Feely on anything. Seriously, that kick for the winner yesteday was TERRIBLE. He is beyond lucky, as are the Jets. And now I see him on ESPN talking like he's not just a temporary replacement. Pleeease.

Jetscode1
-Where the hell was Gholston? Does he even play on this team? . Saw Gholston in action on one tackle during special teams. May have been a pile on but he definitely saw a few plays on SP. I had expected him to have progressed a little further than he has so far. I tried to think of a recent example of another DE from college who struggled in his conversion to OLB in 3-4 but VG has seen minimal playing time. Very disappointed he did not play in last week's blowout against Rams. Very curious to know what the coaches are seeing in practice. Speaking of rookie linebackers, did anyone have Mayo on their radar? That kid was like a missile hitting anything that moved out there. I did not remember him from the draft. Gholston still looks lost. Yes, I had Mayo on my radar. See attached thread. http://www.jetnation.com/forums/showthread.php?p=813637#post813637 Thought he would have been a fantastic complement to Harris. He is very strong at defending both the run and pass as we saw last night. Tangini have a solid record in the first round so maybe Mayo was considered a reach but in hindsight looks like the Patsies have a special player. Hopefully, VG make an impact in the future.
