crashingjet
I heard some stat on the radio today to the effect that Chad has converted only 1 third down situation where 6 or more yards were needed--all season. IF that is true that is remarkable. Kinda. I don't feel like searching for the link but I know what you're refering to. In 3rd and over 6 yard situations our offense has had trouble completing... It's not 1 completion all year, for that specific situation it's something like 6 completions of 30ish attemts on 3rd and over 6 yards... We're breaking long plays on 1st and 2nd, just not 3rd down. We're also 7/9 on 4th down conversions.

Aqua4ever04
W/o the wildcat, Chad doesn't get up 21-6? Remember, the Jets don't run the Wildcat. The two wildcat touchdown runs in the first half came from inside the 10 yard line. Chad was having his way with New England missing only two passes in the first half and compiling more than 150 yards.
Aqua4ever04
fixed I like how you guys act as though it doesn't count. God forbid our coaches out game plan the other coaches. StillerPaul
No. No way does Chad have Favre's talent, swagger, or poise under pressure. I was completely impressed with Favre's decision making during our last two drives. He made several touch throws, but also, flat out, smoked other passes into tight coverages. Chad dreams of Favre's arm. Well put. And i would also add that Favre has a ton more confidence in his ability to get it there. Yeah, it may lead to INT sometimes, but more often than not ya get these kind of results.

No one is ****ting on the wildcat offense. It's been great for you guys. The point we're all making is simply, give credit where credit is due, and that's to the coaches and the running backs, who are the ones executing this gameplan. Chad has been solid, but at this point, he's FAR from the focal point of the offense and what makes the offense click, and really work, is having him on the sideline/as a WR. SMC
I love how a new fanbase defends mediocrity. Who cares what Chad could or couldn't have done? The man is a career .500 QB with a sub .500 record against teams over .500.

Bleedin Green
The idea got buried below some posts but seriously, how has no one considered Chad's efficiency to bury the Patriots in the third quarter? Just as your defense allowed the Patriots to march up and down the field, Favre was a huge part of keeping your defense on the field. I said it earlier in the thread and I'll say it again. Chad was in the same exact situation in week 3. The Dolphins lead 21-6 at half time and Chad was able to help increase the lead. Yes, he had a great overtime and end of the 4th, buFavre was a huge part of letting the Patriots back in. Chad never would've been able to get out to the kind of lead the Jets had with Favre in this game. And credit Chad all you want for the win over NE, but he was either on the sideline or lined up wide for every significant play of that game. Chad did the one thing he's successful at: getting out of the way and not ****ing things up too badly when the rest of his team is capable of beating up on the opponent. I mean for God's sake, the guy is averaging LESS than a TD per game!!

Do you mean to tell me the other 50 were insignificant? Chad drove the Dolphins inside the 15 three times in the first half. Why chastise Chad for the Dolphins giving the ball to one of the NFL's most talented players? If you had Ronnie Brown, you'd give it to him to. I mean for God's sake, the guy is averaging LESS than a TD per game!! We have Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams. We don't need to throw in the red zone; we have one of the most talented backfields in the NFL. Chad gets us into the red zone, and Ronnie punches it in. But you seem to miss the connection that because Chad has a great backfield to work with that carries the team, the teams success doesn't mean Chad is a good QB. Hell, Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl with the Ravens. Sure Chad can manage a game, he always could, but he can't win you won. Right now it all seems fine and dandy, but at some point the Dolphins will get good enough that they'll be capable of getting to the next level, and that's what you'll want and expect. And at that time, you'll come to realize that Chad is incapable of taking a team there. If you don't ask Chad to do a lot, if you let him play ultra conservative and never put any pressure on him, he'll be fine. But the moment you put some pressure on him, as soon as you have to rely on him to win a game, it'll become painfully obvious how much he can hold a team back by his physical incapbilites and fragile psyche. Sure Chad has a good year every now and then, that is... "good for Chad" kind of good. The kind of year where he averages a TD a game, has slightly less INTs and puts up a real pretty passer rating. Unfortunately at some point you'll have to wake up and come to realize Chad for what he is, or you'll doomed to be another mediocrity-loving Chad lover. Of course, given that you're a Dolphins fan, I have no problem with you suffering that fate. Just don't come here and tell me he's a good QB, because trust me, I know a hell of a lot more about Chad than you, and I know better.
GimmeShelter
As much as it is good to see Chad having a nice season in Miami, the big difference with having Farve is that once we won that coin flip in OT we KNEW we had a very good shot at winning inspite of a 1st down sack. Had Chad been sacked there , we would have went ultra conservative and punted away giving the PATS a short field to the game winning FG.

I'm a Dolphins fan; don't you think I would know that better than any one? Dan Marino? It's an equal opportunity offense and the one guy that continues to be a big factor game in and game out is Chad Pennington. He racks up the yards while the running backs get it into the end zone; that's what our offense is predicated on. Well whatever you say, man. I'll take that 4,000 yard, 16 touchdown, 8 interception year. Fine by me. Especially when Ronnie finishes 16 TDs and Ricky has 5 himself. Sprinkle in a total of three defensive/special teams touchdowns and our team now has 40 TDs in the season. Not bad.

Hey, if your team hadn't been to the Playoffs since 2001 and hadn't been in contention since 2003, you'd be talkin to. In fact, the scenario I like best is the one where the Jets and Miami win out the rest of the year, we win week 17 and take the Division with the tiebreak (because you lost to N.E. in week 2). Instant boner every time I think about it.
