Could Pennington have won that game?

I'm not asking for him to take us to a Super Bowl at this point. We were 1-15 last year and we've had a dozen quarterbacks in the past 8 years. We now have a winning record and continuity at the most important position. The transition isn't yet complete, but we sure as hell are on our way and we will be in the playoffs by as early as next year if not this year.

Well, your conclusion (above) is solid. But it doesn't match your arguments (everything you've said after you beat the Pats) at all.

Guys, the Dolphins are 5-4...We're 7-3.

For the Phins, 5-4 is great... For most teams, 5-4 is mediocre. We'll see where they're at come playoff time. Im willing to bet the farm that they're sitting at home.

Yea but what would they be without Chad?? He is an excellent qb, not as good as Farve but still very productive. One can argue that with the big lead we got, he would have slowed the pace of the game down and maybe they would have never caught us with 0 time on the clock. Either way the point is mute.

Just maybe our cs had a lot to do with his failures here.

Either way we are way better off with Farve.

You may like your buddy's post, but let's be truthful here...I live right here in South Florida and that's not the talk on sports radio...you guys are full of yourselves talking about the playoffs and beyond.

There's no reason NOT to think we can make the playoffs. But to believe we can beat the Steelers, Titans and some other team en route to the Super Bowl is a fairy tale at this pont. Now if we win another three in a row; maybe we start talking about playoff advancements.

But for now, we'll relish in the fact that we're very much alive in the hunt. We were 1-15 last year and haven't been in the post-season since 2001.

At this point in the season the past four years, we've been basically eliminated; of course we're excited.

Through week 10:

2007: 0-9

2006: 3-6

2005: 3-6

2004: 1-8

So you can understand while Dolphins fans are excited. Not to mention the way we're doing it. For once, we can look at our future and conclude that it is EXTREMELY bright.

but you are asking JETS fans to agree that pennington is the main reason for your success

we know better ;)

Lol, what did I say after we beat the Pats? Please find the post where I started talking about Super Bowl aspirations.

That was not my implication.

Rather, your conclusion that 'we're happy to be where we are' does not match the tone, nor the content of your earlier posts, talking about Chad Pennington or the Dolphins potential for success.

I think our victory against the Pats is causing you to change your tune, as you realize that maybe, just maybe, the Jets are for real this year, and your chances of taking us down are slim.

I'm a Dolphins fan; don't you think I would know that better than any one? Dan Marino?

It's an equal opportunity offense and the one guy that continues to be a big factor game in and game out is Chad Pennington. He racks up the yards while the running backs get it into the end zone; that's what our offense is predicated on.

Well whatever you say, man. I'll take that 4,000 yard, 16 touchdown, 8 interception year. Fine by me. Especially when Ronnie finishes 16 TDs and Ricky has 5 himself. Sprinkle in a total of three defensive/special teams touchdowns and our team now has 40 TDs in the season. Not bad.

And a maximum of 10 wins in a season with a guarantee of a major disappointment come playoff time if they even make it as long as Chad's there. I can understand you being happy about it this year. Hell, your team has been a complete disaster for many years now. But give it a year or two, the rest of that team will start to really come together and it'll become painfully obvious how much Chad Pennington holds back an offense. You just better hope that Henne turns into a real QB and that Sparano doesn't catch a case of the ultra-contagious Chad-Love, or you guys are screwed for a long time. Not that I have a problem with that.

I'll set the scene. It's week 17. A bright and sunny day in Miami and if you

win this game you'll get a wildcard spot in the playoffs...otherwise you go home.

It's a critical time in the game. The pressure is on. 4th down and 16 to go

to keep the last minute drive alive to win the game. The crowd is roaring and

everyone "believes" they're going to make it happen. The play clock ticks down

and Chad Pennington takes the snap and throws a 5 yard completion to

a receiver who is instantly tackled. Game over. You lose. Better luck next year.
