Dwight Lowery--Calvin Pace--Eric Barton

I thought Dwight's play was a bit inconsistent. Lowery clearly had about two opportunities to end the game with INT's but he just couldn't come up with it. We can't let 3rd string wide outs like Gaffney beat us, we can't let that happen. But hey we won, I can't complain.

I can't complain as much tho, we held both Wes Welker and Randy Moss to:

10 Receptions and 124 Yards for 1 Touchdown.

This is the part I honestly didn't get and drove me absolutely nuts, I couldn't even watch at times. First, the middle was wide the **** open, is it Calvic Pace and Eric Barton's fault? I just don't get it. It seemed to me that either one of them were on Ben Watson and Watson just killed him. Also, on our zone, Barton had to cover Welker's area?

This is a problem, I know MC is better than we thought but is he a 400 yard QB with 3 TOUCHDOWNS? I think not.

Pace Barton = Good

Lowrey = Bad

Lowery is having a very good year for a rookie. He had 3 pass defended yesterday. The play that he got beat on he didnt have ANY help from the safety position which he should have. Lowery is a pretty good CB and he is only showing flashes of getting better. If he would have caught that pick yesterday we wouldnt be having this conversation. Next year with this under his belt and an idea of the speed of the game and offensive schemes of the Pro league watch this kid explode.

I called in the WFAN a couple months back and stated that this kid will be the next great DB and I will be proven right.

When Lowery covered Moss, Moss got 1 reception for 2 yards.

He broke up a bunch of other plays.

I'm sorry, Lowery is not bad. Nowhere near it. Drew Coleman is bad. Eric Smith is bad. Lowery is decent, not great...but a 2nd Cb we can live with. And one that will continue to grow since he is a rookie.

He is more than serviceable, especially compared to our previous options. Coleman, Poteat, Barrett, Miller, Carroll.

If someone would rather see them playing opposite Revis, please let me know now.

Lowery is not bad. He's a rookie db playing in one of the biggest games of his pro football life. He's shown why he is starting. ie. everyone else sucks. And why he wasn't drafted in the first round. ie. he sometimes has mental lapses. I think he will continue to grow and could become a good 2nd db. If Favre stays, if T.Jones continues to look this good. I could see us going after a db in the first round.

Thanks for that knowledgeable post. Some people on this board don't know what you mean.

I thought for a rookie against the reigning AFC champions Lowery did pretty good. The focus which some of you negativos have failed to see is that Moss & Welker were the main concerns. YOU ARE NOT GOING TO SHUT DOWN EVERY FREAKIN RECIEVER. I think peeps like mike and other want every opponents WR to have 0 catches for 0 yards which just isnt going to happen. He isnt a shut down corner yet but Lowery clearly has potential. I mean i love how you are chewing out the rookie when Ty Law was the one who gave up the biggest catch Moss had in the night. Complaints aside Lowery had a great night and if he wouldve made that INT you'd be kissing his ass and calling him the next Deion Sanders, so stfu.

Agree with Lowery and inconsistent play. Lowery played OK last night but was glad to see Law in there to mix up the coverages. Except the last play of regulation.

Lowery has the unfortunate duty of being a rookie and the best CB after Revis and since most teams throw away from Revis...Lowery is getting picked on. At times he shows great technique and at times he gives way too much cushion. I almost hit the ceiling last night when he dropped the game-ending interception. Luckily, my son reminded me if had hands he would have been a WR. Only hope is confidence stays up until he fully develops because IMO he has the smarts but lacks the top shelf athletic talent (speed) to play CB.

I think the reason the middle was wide open was because Faulk came out of the backfield and Barton for the most part followed him. Pick your poison...leave Faulk wide open or let Cassel beat us with his feet. We never did fix this...and think this is the approach most teams will take from here on out. Teams will use the spread formation and force us to cover multiple receivers. The entire team is inconsistent in stopping the short passes...

Well said, Lowery is a 4th round rookie and is learning on the job. Gaffney is a vet and knows how to get open plus they kept throwing to him, Lowery was bound to get tired with no help over the top, because of Welker and Moss. I like what I see from him, every corner gets beat and caught on every once in awhile.
