Anyone Miss Justin Miller ?

Jets kick returner Leon Washington scored a 92-yard touchdown against the Patriots on Thursday. Two years ago, that so would have been Justin Miller.

Instead, the former Jets kick returner spent Thursday practicing with the Raiders, who claimed the former Pro Bowler on waivers a day earlier. He is instantly pushing for Johnnie Lee Higgins' kick-return job for Sunday's game at Miami, Raiders coach Tom Cable said.

"It's great to just get out here and be part of a team, just have something to do," said Miller, who hadn't done much lately.

He spent last season on injured reserve with a knee injury. When he returned this season, his job belonged to Washington. The Jets cut him this week.

Now, Higgins is on the verge of losing his kick-return job after fumbling away the opening kickoff Sunday against Carolina. His 23.3-yard average ranks 20th in the NFL.

Higgins replaced Chris Carr, the Raiders' all-time record holder in kick returns. Carr is fourth in the NFL with 27.6 yards per return for the Titans, who signed him as a restricted free agent when the Raiders declined to match their $2 million offer sheet.

Miller averaged 30.1 yards with two touchdowns in 2006, his second NFL season. He went to the Pro Bowl and won the fastest man competition.

"He was looking for a fresh start and obviously we have a great need there," Cable said. "Watching him today was very exciting."

I miss Mr. Miller. Well, i miss the healthy Miller. I always liked him once he started making tackles.
