i feel for ya. i had a molar pulled 2 days ago....a piece had broken off and the nerve had become exposed. for some reason (oral surgeon said maybe casue my roots were abnormally long, and/or i had a hypersensitive tooth) the roots wouldn't numb. so i pretty much felt the whole thing (a good 45 minutes). first i thought he was gonna break my jaw how hard he was torquing my jaw sideays to try and yank the tooth out. only the top cracked off first and then he had to drill the roots. let me tell ya, getting a tooth drilled when it won't get numb is the worst pain i've ever felt in my life. there was a point where i told him he just couldn't continue cause it was just too intense of a a pain to be able to sit there and take it. he said he couldn't let me leave and that they'd have to put me under if that was the case. so he shot me up with even more novicaine. my whole ****ing head was numb. everyhting but my ****ing tooth. it got a little duller, enough for me to be able to bite down and take the drilling but then he hit another spot that wasn't numb at all and i almost knocked him off his chair when i jammed his arm back. so then he grabbed the little prybar thing, the nurse held my arms dow and he pried the last root out...and it still wasn't numb. it sucked.

Aw man. I had no complications. I did have something like that though with a root canal. My wife is a dental hygenist, so she made sure I was sedated with Nitrous and enough novacaine for this. It does feel weird when they are tugging and you hear the snap crackle and pop as the molars come out. I haven't slept all night due to the soreness. I don't want to dope myself up too much with the percoset.

I had 1 pulled when I was 18, the other 3 pulled when I was 39. SHould have had theM all pulled then, but who knew? With the help of some kick ass painkillers you'll be fine in a day or 2, and soon the gums will grow back and those holes won't be there any more. And it is better than the pain of impacted wisdom teeth.

I've had all 4 wisdom and one molar. my molar broke off under the gum line. he took this gigantic drill and cut it into 4 sections. then I thought my jaw was gonna come out of my face he was prying so hard. his hand was shaking. I had previously gotten full juice for the wisdom (gas/shot in the arm/and Novocaine) but he insisted I only needed Novocaine for this. I bent the arm rest while this was going on. it didn't hurt but it was nerve wrecking.

The wisdom teeth were a piece of cake compared to this. I had a great oral surgeon. 3 of my wisdom's were impacted and beneath the gum. I never had any swelling.

Did you take your teeth home? Too bad if you didn't. You could have drilled holes (no pun intended) and strung them up as a necklace. HolyJesusGod, that would have been so cool. "See this? I've got my own teeth around my neck. I declare war! RUN!" People would scream and scatter like ants, who would be better than you?

Had to have one taken out a couple of years ago, it had grown sideways under 3 other teeth, broke one, which got infected...Ended up having to get sedated so they could open my jaw wide enough. Not fun.

dude believe me....you'd rather be sedated than have someone yank out a tooth that isn't taking the anesthetics. if it wasn't going to cost me another $300 i would have went under...then i would have had to wait for someone to drive me home. besides general anesthesia sucks, i feel nauseous for a day after that crap.

I know, I basically had a sort of lockjaw, and spent the best part of a week barely able to open my mouth, then when the dentist tried to pry my jaws apart....I jumped out of the chair. Don't think he expected the scream either. The usual anaesthetics have never worked for me - why I've avoided going to dentists for so long.
