war ensemble
Eve's Pudding. Sort of like Apple Pie but with apple sauce instead of chopped apples, no cinnamon, and something similar to sponge cake instead of the typical flaky, crusty, pie. I could eat a whole one in one sitting.Yessssssssss, but I thought that was too obvious as Thanksgiving looms. Squash pie is really awesome. Much less work than getting all the stringy mess out of the pumpkin, if you're really doing it from true scratch. But back to pumpkin, my Grandma used to slice sugar pumpkins like cantaloupe sections and brown them in olive oil with garlic and sea salt. Unbelievable. I made it once with hazelnut oil instead. Died and went to heaven. So what the hell am I doing in this joint.

DMaynard
My first job I was a produce clerk in a grocery store. This sweet old black woman who I always made laugh hysterically used to always tell me she was going to bring in a piece of her sweet potato pie for me. Why would somebody make a pie out of sweet potatoes? Not knowing any better, it did not sound all that great to me, and I was thankful she never seemed to remember. Well one day she finally remembered and brought me in a piece. OMG, was it good. I have had it since then, but never anything as good as hers.
