Steveg
I've been thinking about this the last couple of weeks. Remember how we all thought Thomas, a 1st rd pick was a bust....Hopefully Gholston turns it around like Thomas. Click Here for good story.. Boozer76
At least Thomas played some as a rookie. Actually he really didn't. He lost a ton of weight his rookie season because he didn't know how to eat properly to maitnain his size, then he had that odd altercation in the airport with his girlfriend. I don't think he really played at all his rookie year, definitely no more than Gholston.

Click Here for good story.. cool story, but i remember BT being one of the bright spots of the "3-4 with 4-3 player" scheme we lived with last year. actually as much damage as it did to Drob and Vilma that's how improved BT became. Oh well, whatever, good story. With him and Pace out there, Gholston shopuldn't see MUCH action, but we are talking NONE, I smell bust, but it's early. i should pay more attention, does he even play specials? does he ever make a tackle? Larz
lets just be happy he plays OLB, and we have 2 legit starters already Imagine if he had to start

At #6, if Gholston becomes Thomas, he's a huge bust.

I was simply referring to your statement that "at least Thomas played as a rookie", which he really did not at all.

Maxman
At least Thomas played some as a rookie. Didn't Abe get hurt that year? And Thomas ended up starting a bunch of games?
Boozer76
Didn't Abe get hurt that year? And Thomas ended up starting a bunch of games? No, Abe was astonishingly healthy that entire season. Thomas was perceived as a threat to him when he was drafted so I guess Abe laid of the booze that year. Thomas was inactive alot of games and barely made the field in the ones he was active in. Jetscode1
Check out the link...http://www.nfl.com/players/bryanthomas/profile?id=THO054183 Looks like as a rookie Thomas played in 15 games (zero starts) with nine tackles and 1/2 sack. He may be a good comparison to Gholston. I'm not sure I'd agree that he'd be a huge bust if his career turns out similar. Below expectations for sure but still a starter. Hopefully, VG develops into something more; a better, more consistent player than BT. I like the fact his coaches and teammates are throwing him some props (see quote below) but would prefer seeing more production on the field. One of the few players who hasn't made his presence felt defensively is first-round pick Vernon Gholston.

LionelRichie
gholston must be terrible at practice. the knock on him in training camp was the 'transition' from DE to OLB yet gholston can't find the field in the prevent when all you have to do is rush the passer. where is all of the 'edge' speed and the ability to get to the QB? i would at least like to see what he can do in the prevent, if he sucks, he sucks but lets at least see him play. My question is, why not switch him to his natural position and see if he's any good? I understand he's a little undersized for a 3-4 dee but what he might lack in size he probably can make up for in speed and talent. I just dont get it. Maybe Gholston is just a college star that can't cut it in the big boys club.
