gangreenman
I agree with this decision by the Chargers. Sometimes stability is needed. They hired Norv for a reason, and they want him to be here for the long haul. Changing coaches after every bad season/week has always been more of a recipe for disaster than success. madmike1
This team has so much talent it's amazing they cant pull their heads out for more than a week at a time. Thats all on the coaching.

Jetscode1
They will keep him for another year but it will only set the organization back. A very good coordinator/QB coach but is in over his head as the head coach.

I know the Bills fired him because he couldn't win playoff games. The result: The Bills have NOT even MADE the playoffs since Wade left. That's since 1999. No playoffs THIS CENTURY. #27TheDominator
I rejoice at Norv ****ing Turner leading the Chargers. As long as he is running them the AFC playoffs will be a more comfotable place and #27 will NEVER, EVER win the suicide pool. EVER.
SMC
Well, that's good news. And this year is poetic justice for that pompous ass, AJ Smith. Yes, he's a good GM, but he's also an egomaniac who believes that he can assemble the best collection of talent, have anyone coach them, and be a great success. That was the whole reason behind him forcing out Marty. Smith thought he could get anyone to coach them to be the champs. But it was Cam Cameron's idiotic game plan in the 2nd half against the Pats in the Divisional Round, and the safety not falling down after the INT that did the Chargers in. The team now is less than the sum of all its parts. AJ Smith overplayed his hand, just like he did in negotiating the trade of Michael Turner. Norv Turner is an excellent coordinator but he is a bad head coach. Just shows that because a guy is a good coordinator this not mean he can be a good head coach Yep. Smith should have kept Marty, fired Cameron, and hired Turner to be OC. It's good that Cameron is out of a job, he was a lousing HC and mediocre OC who devised bad gameplans in big spots. By the way, I'm starting to think the Charger's vaunted "talent" on offense is currently overrated. I like Rivers, but he's killed them this year. He was atrocious in that Steeler game. He killed them in the redzone and that was the difference in the season crushing loss. LT has been injured the last 2 years, and Antonio Gates looks like he's eaten 10 too many cheeseburgers. Marv, is an excellent coach his one fault is he gets very conservative and this bites him in the playoffs where the better teams are evenly matched. It is to bad he will get the knock as coach who could not win the big one. I have a feeling Smith could be on the way out in SD.

Heck, I've written this elsewhere: if Mangini (for some reason) was to be gone after this season I'd want either Bill Cowher or Marty Schottenheimer. Marty is a good HC and I envisioned him finally breaking that knock as a coach who couldn't win the big one with the Jets.

Ghost
I hate the Chargers organization, how stupid can you be? The Chargers are going to miss the playoffs with a PRO-BOWL team. That's too much talent in my opinion.

At least they are a few years away (ummm you all know why?) from competing for SB's. The Chargers are ready now. I want my team to have the easy path to the SB these next couple years...
