No Talk about Brick?

Could it be he is turning the corner? I have seen him get beat a couple of times but Favre tends to step out of the sack anyway. His run blocking has also looked pretty good.

The one play I really like is when the pull Brick out to crush some helpless CB. I can't help but think that is Callahan's influence since they rarely, if ever, pulled Brick out before this year.

He's been nice to watch and since no one is really noticing, I believe he is turning into the player we thought we originally drafted.

Farve always makes o-line look better. Brick is above average pass blocker and average run blocker at this point IMO

He still has some struggles vs power rushers but he's developing into one of the best in the league IMHO. I never understood the hate foe him on this board and I'm glad to see him having an excellent year, his run blocking has been superb at times. I think a lot of people underestimated just how bad Adrian Clarke made him look at times last season, it must have been horrific playing beside such a liability.

Lets see what he does Monday against a very physical d-line.

Good point, he does seem to struggle w/teh white boyz.. :D

KVB specifically. D'Brick has come back and shut down everybody else that beat him the first time around. The second meeting with KVB was easily the worst game D'Brick has ever played and every bit as lopsided as Osi's field day against Winston Justice. KVB is healthy and very rested and this is an infinitely more high-leverage game than either of the last two. We absolutely need D'Brick to shut down the guy who's never done anything but embarrass him, and if he pulls it off I'll have no problem putting him up there with anybody in the league.

couldn't agree more with Clarke.

People tend to forget its a team sport especially on the O-line.

How healthy is he? Groins are kind of funny. I'm hoping he tweaks it early personally and we don't get to find out :)

ESPN insider chat with Scouts Inc...what I dont understand is why DBrick cant spend Feb - July in the weight room to at least add 10 pounds of upper body muscle. With all the access to trainers, nutrition, etc, you'd think it'd be easy.....

Anthony (Brooklyn NY): Tag, The Jets LT, DBrickshaw Fergason. When he was drafted scouts said he was the next elite LT. A year or so ago, fans considered him a bust. Whats the real stroy with him? Has he peaked or can we expect further development?

Tag Ribary: You should see him continue to develop. The addition of Faneca inside has helped him. He's very athletic but lacks top strength against the more physical power rushers that he faces.

He's had continuous eating problems in the offseason, it's hard enough for him to maintain his weight, let alone add to it.

He was already top ten. If he shuts down KVB on Sunday I'd honestly put him in contention for top one.

Holy hell, I'm shocked to see you say that.

To the original poster, not hearing anything about your left tackle is probably the best compliment you can give him.

Brick has been very good this year and argueably our best lineman. He's improved significantly against the run although that still only makes him average at best. His pass blocking has always been good but he's taken another step. He's been one of the better LTs this year and I'd have no problem putting him in the top 10. He's only given up 2 sacks and I believe one was Favre's fault and he's only had 2 penalties.

This is why you don't label people busts a year into their careers. Now lets see him continue at this level cause we all know he wears down towards the end of the season. We're already more than halfway there though so it looks like he'll be ok so far.

D'Brick is still letting pass rushers by with relative ease. I think he'd be better suited at Right Tackle. A much better run blocker than he is a pass blocker, at least this season. That could also attribute to having Faneca next to him and Faneca is well known for his run blocking more so than his pass protection.

You might be the only person in the world that thinks this.

Someone.....was........talking.........about Haynesworth lining up outside against Brick.....which scared the hell out of me.

If they do that and Schotty doesn't realize that rolling brett and the running game away from him is how to handle that...hand over the reigns to Callahan.

I'd love to see that change anyway.

The reason people turned on DBrick last year was that he seemed to take a step backward. He was OK for a rookie his first year but seemed to slip back his second. Fans love an improving player and turn on players who seem to be getting worse. Of course, the fact that his first year DBrick had Kendall next to him and the next year he had Clarke made a huge difference.

And the coach is not likely to bring attention to this because Mangini was part of the Kendall fiasco.

good point about who plays alongside brick making a huge differencefrom 07 to 08.

much to credit for bricks improved play. faneca & woody were much needed & great aquisitions which help brick immensely.

someone says favre makes him better but since Jones is bustin thru the los in a big way this year you have to give credit to blocking schemes & coaching.

this is pretty indicitive of every player on the team. the guy playing next to him is making him better.

It looks like DBrick is NOT a bust but will never live up to being a Top 4 pick in the draft. At this point I guess I'd be happy if he was simply a solid LT for years to come.

But to be honest, if I had to bet money on it, I dont think he will be headed to Honolulu for Pro Bowls.
