TONY SPARANO TRIED, FAILED TO REMOVE JOEY PORTER FROM GAME

With less than four minutes to go in yesterday

To add onto this, I was watching the final six minutes of the game and remember when the cameras shot to the Miami sideline after Porter's personal foul / unsportsmanlike / whatever call and Sparano yelling "GET HIM OFF THE FIELD!".

Nice job Sparano. You are truly in charge.

We now know the players have zero respect for him.

Parcells runs that team, not Sparano. As I said when Sparano was hired, he is nothing but Bill's little puppet on the sideline keeping the attention away from Bill but he is still the true leader of the organization.

With Parcells lurking, you know damn well Sparano is going to have to come down hard on Porter's little punk ass. The guy is just such an enormous douche, its really unbelievable. As much as it may hurt, I don't see how you can maintain order without benching a guy who intentionally picks up two personal fouls and ignores the coaches decisions. Obviously you want your best guys on the field, but sometimes having control of your team is much more important. The Panthers didn't hesitate to suspend Steve Smith for two guys this season for his fight with Ken Lucas, so I can't imagine any reason why the Dolphins wouldn't suspend him at least one game.

With 3:23 left to play in Sunday's Dolphins loss to the Patriots, Dolphins coach Tony Sparano got an ugly glimpse of how hard to control Joey Porter is when the linebacker collected an unnecessary roughness penalty -- no doubt, on purpose.

One play later Porter was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct -- just a guess here, but whatever he did was probably premeditated. And so Sparano had seen enough. He sent Charlie Anderson into the game to replace Porter.

Porter refused to leave the field in direct insubordination of his coach's wishes. Porter ordered Anderson to go back to the bench. After the game, Porter refused to speak with the media. (So much for being a stand-up guy.)

So this is what the Dolphins have:

A linebacker who has a big mouth. A linebacker who has gaudy sack stats and is the team's only player applying consistent pressure. The defense's only big-play-maker. The defense's most unhinged player.

Porter has spent most of the season being way out there with things that have nothing to do with sacking quarterbacks. He has made news for calling out Matt Cassel before the season's first meeting between the Dolphins and Pats. He ripped a referee. He ripped Matt Jones and the league's handling of his situation. He said he would like to have Michael Vick on the Dolphins and said people critical of Vick for killing dogs were somewhat hypocritical because the dogs slain were pitbulls and those folks don't like pitbulls, anyway.

On ESPN Sunday, Porter said Bill Belichick is a cheater who has stolen two championships from Porter because the Pats beat the Steelers two times in the playoffs in the years the Patriots were allegedly cheating.

None of that really bothers me. It's just noise.

But Sunday's refusal to do what Sparano ordered is a problem. Joey Porter crossed the line. And it's not the first time it happens with a rookie head coach as Porter crossed the line several times with Cam Cameron last year.

So what should Sparano do with and to Porter?

Fine him? Suspend him? Ignore him? It will be interesting as most things involving Joey Porter are. It will be interesting because it is Sparano's first test of his will over the will of a star player.

I saw that. It was unbelievable. I don't think it is an issue that "the players" don't have respect for Sparano, I think it is just that Porter is an absolute moron.

Be interesting to see what the Fish do about this. They are still in the play off hunt. I'll bet anything Porter won't be there next season

One of the funniest things I've ever seen in a football game.

Now you know why BB left the Jets like he did. He did not want to be Parcells' idiot puppet.

Let me say this... Never should a player openly ignore a coaches order... Suspend him for a game and let him know that type of stuff is unacceptable. If he does it again, get rid of him.

124, I think you may be 1 I.Q. point from being retarded... how you can claim that Sparano is Parcells "puppet" because Porter is a douche, is beyond me? You are right, Parcells is the leader of the organization, HE'S THE V.P. OF FOOTBALL OPERATIONS. Sparano is the coach, and if you go back and look at what Sparano says regarding Parcells involvement he says Parcells does NOTHING as far as coaching goes.

Also, you make a blanket statement that "now we know the players have zero respect for him"... I'm sorry, but that does not make sense. Because 1 player decided to ignore a coaches order, everybody disrespects the coach. That's B.S. and you know it.

The players saw Chad fail to win in a big game, the coach get his balls cut off, and the playoff hopes fade in one game...

The wheels are off buddy... sorry

 Again, for the 15th time today. It was not Chads fault that the defense gave up 48 points... But I guess Chad throwing 341 yards, 3 passing TD's and a rushing TD, is him "failing to win a big game" Pfftt.

Thanks again for keeping the 72' Dolphins perfect season intact douche bag.

lol, you should go through the archives and see how many times people have said "It's not Chad's fault" when he was on the Jets over the years.

It is Chads fault, he couldnt get it done when it mattered.

He couldnt keep the other O off the field... he does nto control drives... drives control him...

Yup, the blame goes on the shoulder's of 1 out of Miami's 53 players and numerous coaches. The 1 player that accounted for EVERY touchdown scored yesterday. Yup, all Chad's fault

Why cant I? It was vintage Chad..

Please tell me in what quarter did he throw a back breaking interception?

At what point did he lead the Phins and their 2 good RB's on long LONG drives to keep the Pats hto offense off the field?

Vintage Chad never threw for 341 yards with 4 TD's.

I did admit earlier that Chad's 1 interception was untimely, but if the defense hadn't **** the bed we could have gotten the ball back in time to score again.

He threw for 3 and had 1 int yesterday...

He just did that last year in a loss... LAST ****ING YEAR!

How about 06'? Back to back 300 yard games with 4TD's total and only 1 INT...

How about 4TDs in a loss to the Giants in 03?

Its what Chad is... dont be blinded like some of us were...

He chokes... always... even when he wins its a fluke... its never a sure thing...

124 is not retarted...he happens to be spot on. I wouldn't be surprised if Parcells is plugged into Sparano's headset. I said from the beginning as well that Sparano was just a puppet...he brought someone here who is a "zero" and if you think that wasn't purposely done, that you're the retarded one.

I'm also curious to see how the soft Miami media treats this Porter crap...in NY, he would have been buried.

I don't see Miami going far in the playoffs even if they do manage to somehow squeak in (which would require a total collapse of two of the four teams ahead of them, the Pats, Jets, Indy, and whichever AFC North team doesn't win the division). Sparano should just bite the bullet and deactivate Porter for a game.

Edit: Actually I think they play the Rams next week. They will probably win even without Porter.

The guy throws a 4th quarter int and doesn't sustain any drives late in the game and you're wondering why the D is playing like crap. Perhaps it has something to do with Chaddy P hanging them out to dry and letting the Pats O beat up on a worn down and tired Fins D. I don't care how good you are and how conditioned you are. If your QB is throwing picks late in the game and is not sustaining drives late in the game your D is going to get worn down. Look what the jets did to the Titans D. We wore them down and they were tired and slowed down a bit. The 4th quarter INT down by only 10 or so points wasn't big? It put the tired ass miami defense right back on the field. How about getting a few first downs so they can take a breather. I've seen it happen with the Jets so many times when they are in the game until the end when Chaddy P gives the opposing team's O the ball right back and the game gets out of hand and everyone blames the D. It's up to the offense and the QB especially to help the defense but sustaining drives and letting them rest and not just giving the other team the ball back right away. "Gee, I wonder why out defense looking so ****ty at the end of the game and why we gave up so many points in the last quarter?" lol.

I would be suprised if Parcells was plugged into Sparanos headset, mostly because Parcells DOESN'T travel with the team on away games, and during homegames he's got binoculars glued to his face and guess what... No headset. In fact, the only time he offers input is in passing with players.. Something along the lines of "If you can't tackle so and so, then you should retire". That's is the extent of Parcells coaching. But what am I telling you that you don't know already, you're obviously an expert on the front office workings of the Dolphins
