Tennessee Titans

Do people really think this team is a serious contender? We embarrassed them two weeks ago and their way of reestablishing themselves is beating up on the Lions?

They basically played a high-school football team. I dont care what anybody says, the Jets are flat out the better team and Ill take the Titans seriously when they beat Pittsburgh or Indy.

Haha yeah I found that funny too. I'm pretty sure Raiders and Chiefs can embarrass the Lions as well. I guess that is sending us a message that they are elite AFC teams.

The Titans are a paper tiger. They'll get killed by the Colts and Steelers and then nobody will talk about them. This is why we need to win out, there's a pretty good likelihood we take the #1 seed if we win out. We are 2 games back with the Titans having 4 more games to go. But they have to play the Steelers and Colts back to back. I just don't buy that they win those games.

I think this year Titans are one of the most overrated teams I have ever watched. They just play safe ball with good defense and beat average teams. Until they played us and we know how that turned out. I predict a first round playoff exit for these guys.

the tians are a very serious contender

the lions were at home on turkey day in front of the ctry and that was their SB, and they looked like a HS team vs the titans

if we see them again, they won't keep fatboy on the bench, and probably won't drop as many passes, so it could be a totally different game

I agree they are a serious contender, but they dropped a few vs. the Lions. Nature of the beast, a run first team with JMac = dropped passes.

Sorry, anyone who goes 11-1 doesn't do it by a fluke, so I think I'll take them seriously. They have a great team and we should feel even better by the fact that we have been the only ones able to beat them.

You are supposed to win the games against crap teams like this. Using the logic of some of the posters here, we shouldn't be a serious team because we lost to a garbage Oakland squad.

I agree that the Titan's are not as good as their record indicates. I can't see them going to the SB. But they aren't a bad team either. Ya can't really judge them off of one loss, although your team pretty much had their way with em'.

I think the Jets exposed weaknesses in the Titan's defense that the Colts and Steelers would be wise to take advantage of from the game tape. And Kerry Collins won't provide them with enough passing game to keep playoff D's from stacking the box IMO either.

This AFC race is awesome IMO. I think we're all in for some real exciting football the next few weeks.

I still think the Titans will be a major factor in the playoffs.

People can say what you want about how they are conservative and whatever but here are the two things that teams need to do well in the post season.

1) Run the football:

2) Play hard physical defense.

It is hard for me to say that they are a fluke when the have wins over the Ravens, Indy.

The last two weeks of the season you are going to get an idea how real Tennessee is when they host the Steelers and go to Indy.

The Titans are still a dangerous team. A team that runs hard and plays good defense can still be a force in the playoffs. Fisher is an excellent, playoff-experienced coach. We faced them at the right time. They were riding high at 10-0. Extremely difficult to run the table. CB Harper was out and they were forced to use Chris Carr at his position. We were coming off a big win but still hadn't got much respect from the pundits. We match up well against them so I still think we can beat them again in the playoffs. They are just too one dimensional on offense.

The Titans are a legit contender - if they can avoid playing the Jets in the playoffs.

They will probably get homefield because all they will have to do is win one of those two final games in order to clinch.

The Pittsburgh game will be key for them. The Steelers will still have a shot at a bye and possibly homefield for themselves coming into that game so it won't be a scenario where the Titans can afford to rest people.

Plus from what we have learned in recent years, resting players and taking a game off like that doesn't bode well for your playoff chances.

The last three Super Bowl Champs all had to play their way in or play hard to clinch divisional titles in week 17 and played in the opening week of the playoffs.

When the Pats won back-to-back in '03 and '04 they played their starters hard for at least a half in week 17 to keep them sharp.

How much more competitive would the Colts have been in some of those postseasons had they not rested their players in week 16 and 17 and they stayed sharper and more focused.

What I like about the Jets chances is Mangini's theory of a consistent approach, treating every game the same in terms of preparation.

true

but I bet if we see them again they try to pound it with chubby and don't come out trying to pass it

the funny thing is the JETS are a bad match up for them, and I bet they don't want to see us again :box:

The Lions look like a HS team against everybody. So do the Rams. Nobody really cared when we dominated the Rams even worse, because it is the Rams. The Lions pretty much only have 1 shot at avoiding 0-16 this season (against the Saints).

The Giants lost to the Browns, I guess they're not a serious team either. And the Patriots last year lost to the Giants, I guess they should get a do over right? After all, they did win every other game, how could the Giants be a better team than them for winning one game?

I still think the Titans will be a major factor in the playoffs.

Yeah they ran the football real well against us. Running well against crappy defenses and not showing up against good defenses is a recipe for playoff success!! Not to mention in the past decade only a couple of RBs could dominate in the playoffs, and even fewer could do it with no legit passing game behind them. Actually...I can't think of any that did it with no passing game.

I'll take our chances against the Titans. I'd much rather face the Titans than the Colts, Steelers, Patriots or Ravens. Sure they beat the Colts, but at that point in the season everybody beat the Colts. I don't think they can beat that team now. Likewise with us, if the Titans played us instead of the Raiders, the Titans would surely have beaten us that game. We got better, the Colts are better, the Titans are not.

We need to get that 1st round bye, because otherwise it is going to be real tough. The only non-Super Bowl teams in the AFC are the Titans, Ravens and Broncos. Everybody else that can qualify is a serious team.

I've often wondered that, myself. I think the Colts would have at least another SB appearance had they not let their players get rusty. No way of varifying that though.

I've seen my Steelers do that time after time too during the Cowher years. Sometimes they'd win the divisional games but look flat as hell. Personally, i have grown to hate the resting players the last week stuff.
