Maxman
I agree with the article except 11 and 5 won't be good enough for the # 2 seed. That would mean that Pitt lost 3 of 4. Not likely. I am pretty sure they have the tiebreaker over us in any head to head scenario.
NYJ37/12
I always hated that saying, always. This team is different though. They will respond in a big way this Sunday. Focused, energized, and winning. For as much confidence that I had last week in them losing, its even stronger this week for the win. I will not except anything less. Not that I control anything. 124
Agreed Tyson, after a few days of relaxation from the game, but 11-5 isn't going to get this team the 2 seed. Not a chance. Pittsburgh would have to go 1-3 or Tennessee go 0-4 and that isn't happening.

Pittsburgh would have to go 1-3 or Tennessee go 0-4 and that isn't happening. Yeah there is no way either of those is happening. Even if we win out, I don't think we can get the #2 now. I believe the Steelers have tie breakers over us. If the Steelers go 2-2 the rest of the way out, we could get the #2 by winning out. If the Titans go 0-4, I'm not so sure they even win the division. If the Titans and Colts finish with a tie, who gets that division? And of course, if we are also tied, how would the seeds go? It would be ridiculous if there were 4 12-4 teams, but it could theoretically happen I think.

That isn't happening either. But I don't think there is an AFC playoff team with anything worse than 11-5. A 10-6 team or teams will miss out. serphnx
If the Titans go 0-4 and Indy 4-0 Indy wins by being 12-4, Tennessee would be 11-5. That isn't happening either. But I don't think there is an AFC playoff team with anything worse than 11-5. A 10-6 team or teams will miss out. Oops. I think the Colts will go 3-0 before the Titans game. The Titans I'm all but sure will lose the Steelers game. I think the Colts will finish 12-4, and the Titans will finish 13-3, but it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility that they drop another game. They could easily finish 1-3 in that stretch. If that happens, do the Colts win the division? I guess they'd have to lose to the Texans, since that'd even up the division rankings. It's probably not worth thinking about until 3 weeks from now I guess if it comes down to that. I think people have counted out the Colts too quickly. They might not win the division, but I'm pretty certain they make it at least as a wild card, and I wouldn't want to be facing them.
124
10 and 6 and out of the playoffs, wow. That would be rough. Just like the Browns last year. 1. Tenn 14-2/13-3 2. Pitt or NYJ 12-4 3. Pitt of NYJ 12-4/11-5 4. Denver 11-5 (Schedule is very easy) although they actually may be only 9-7/10-6 when I think about it 5. Indy 12-4/11-5 6. New England / Baltimore 11-

But, if we go 11-5 and our one loss is either SF or SEA, we get the division. (1-1 split, 5-1 division where as NE is 4-2 division if they win out). If we go 11-5 with a loss in the division and NE wins out we go to common games. Lets say our 1 loss is to Miami (Doesn't matter either way) NE 2-0 vs Buff /NYJ 2-0 vs Buff NE 1-1 vs Mia / NYJ 1-1 vs Mia NE 1-0 vs DEN / NYJ 0-1 NE 1-0 vs KC / NYJ 1-0 NE 1-0 vs SEA / NYJ 1-0 NE 1-0 vs SF / NYJ 1-0 NE 0-1 vs SD / NYJ 0-1 NE 1-0 vs STL / NYJ 1-0 NE 1-0 vs ARZ / NYJ 1-0 NE 1-0 vs OAK / NYJ 0-1 New England wins the division. We need to go 4-0 or 3-1 with our 1 loss being in San Francisco or Seattle. Pats should be going 4-0.
newjakecity
I've always hated that saying as well. Its like nails down a chalkboard when I hear that saying. What bothers me is that it seems that every time it is said, it blames the current group (regardless of what year it is) on things that happened in 1996 (one win), 1986 (monumental collapse), or any other issue in between. The most ridiculous time was hearing this saying after what happened Sunday. We win five in a row, lose a one (in a bad way admittedly), and all of a sudden its that same old tired saying. Somehow I doubt Tennessee fans were saying the same thing after winning ten straight only to then be walloped by us. The only time (and I do mean only time) that SOJ should have been brought out this season was when we lost to New England at home early in the year. Brady goes down and we still lose to them (haven't beaten them at the Meadowlands since Clinton was in the white house). In that case, the saying can be considered apt. You can criticize many many aspects about the game on Sunday (outside of Thomas Jones and Darelle Revis, you had plenty to choose from ). You can also question whether we have much of a chance in the playoffs (specifically about whether our genius defensive staff can create some blitz packages). But the SOJ saying needs to be given a rest.

newjakecity
Do you seriously think people would be saying SOJ if we won 10 in a row and then lost a game? Knowing the mentality of some fans, I absolutely think that. We just finished destroying said 10 win team, lost a bad one, and instead of being merely upset about it, the woe is me same old jets crap came out. I let my guard down after the titans game. I told everyone this was a SB team. In the back of my mind denver terrified me, but I wasn't going to allow my jets fan complex to ruin a fun week of being ranked #2, I had a shiny new outlook on the NYJ but there was a voice in my head telling me shanahan would embarras sutton, but I resisted until gametime. I can't allow myself to get to excited until they decide to pressure a QB in the 4th quarter besides warner or a rookie if this team's philosophy is to sit back in coverage against any good QB, we won't make it out of 1 PO game the SOJ get your hopes up, then break your heart hopes up ? check break our hearts ? we'll see I believe in the players, but mangina and sutton are huge liabilities
