I don't care how good a secondary is, you give an NFL QB that much time they will always complete the pass or they will run for a big gain. Thats the point though. we are only rushing 3 and dropping 8 to cover, the qb is going to have time but we should be able to stay within 10 yards of the receivers. If you study the film you will see that the 8 men in coverage are covering ****ing air, not people. For some reason, even when the receiver enters their zone, they are trained/ordered/whatever you want to call it STAYING in that zone, as if the QB can throw to ****ing AIR. If the reciever enters your area, you need to collapse on him BEFORE he has caught the ball. As for the line, for 6 weeks I have been watching how Mangini the POS (without question THE worst NFL coach - and yes I said this even after beating the Titans) refuses to learn from his mistakes, that a 3 man rush using Jenkins in the middle, who is a run-stopper only, is not going to generate pressure on the opposing QB. Why they refuse to send in 5 men I cannot fathom, especially when there are 5 offensive linemen blocking PLUS a running back. It isn't clear to me how the idiot Mangini expects to get pressure with a 3-on-6 number. All this will do is give the QB lots of time to throw, and as importantly, tire out his coverage units and linemen, so that by the 4th qtr they have no gas in their tank left, and won't be able to make tough stops in close games. Lastly, the coach sucks because he is stupid and cannot adjust his gameplan DURING the game. The Thursday night Pats game was a perfect example of this, look how Belicheck modified his program during the half - and Mangini just went into a conservative shell for the second half. Mangini reminds me of Stump Merrill, just a nice, portly guy who is intellectually inequipped for managing a team at this level. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The defensive playcalling does suck but even when they do blitz they're getting inconsistent pressure. As much as I hate Sutton its on the players to. Thomas has reverted back to his terrible form, Pace is a nice pass rusher but is inconsistent and not the dynamic type we need, and our d-line has also been inconsistent these past couple games.
