Everyone wanted the longball in NY...

We got it for sure!

Nice hail mary throws all game from Favre... Shotty your the man!

That wasnt Schotty's fault, it was actually a good adjustment. The '9ers were focused almost completely on the short passes in the middle of the field. They were keeping a safety and a LB in a zone right in the box about 5 yards beyond the LOS all game. Therefore they gave man coverage to our WR's deep...

Calling those throws was a smart idea. Try to take advantage of m2m coverage, and try to loosen up the D a little. Blame our farking WR's for getting 0 Farking seperation in those m2m coverages. PATHETIC!!

Are you joking?

Did you watch the game?

The oline would set up in an obvious deep pass formation... and Favre would drop back... never look anywhere else... and toss it up...

Those were designed lobs... AWFUL!

Real deep balls are NOTHING like those NOTHING at all... watch the Giants or Steelers run a deep route...

How come we only throw really short or really long? Does Shott not understand the concept of the intermediate throw?

No and he also loves when we run a route with just 1 WR and the other ones block.. Favre said something about it last week... crazy...

Are you that stupid Ecurb? Really? Thats exactly what a deep ball is. Problem is we don't have Plaxico Burress, Hines Ward, Amani Toomer, and the WR's that actually know how to get seperation when its man coverage like the Giants and Steelers do.

As for the intermediate passes... Favre definitely did throw some to Keller/Baker and they were open for the most part. Why we didn't do that more is beyond me.

Wouldnt have mattered,... they were lobs... toss ups... could have been a world class sprinter and it wouldnt have mattered...

Dude, they were only toss ups because the receivers failed to get anything close to separation. They were playing man coverage on the outside. Throwing it deep to them is a good idea.

You dont get seperation until the end of the route usually... Favre unloaded those lobs knowing they were just that... if Cotch got any seperation he would have had to come back to the ball...

Some of those passes were 25-30 yards downfield. Remember they were taking away his dump offs and middle passes all game. They were literally playing man coverage the entire game on the receivers. Its not like there wasnt a 2nd option in the play, Favre and Schotty trusted the receivers to be able to get open 30 yards downfield against man coverage.

Guys if they seperated they would have had to come back to the ball... those were as deep as it gets... what do you want seperation by the CB ****ing up? If the WR's outrun the Cbs there the ball comes up short... those were LOBS...

Watch the Steelers and Cowboys and the way they actually run deep routes... not toss ups... posts... and such... amazing...

Can you put like 10 more dunce caps on Sutton, one is just not enough.

Some of it is play design. Why do we always do reverses and throw the deep ball to Cotch, probably or slowest receiver?

While the other 2 WR's run short outs and leave both safeties to help on the deep ball... lol

The lobs to Coles are a complete joke... he needs to be running deep routes like Steve Smith... Posts and such...

We may have the worst downfield passing game in the league.

Goes to show it wasnt the QB... it was the COACHES!

There is no reason Coles cant run the deep routes Steve Smith does... and Cotch has had some deep grabs already...

I want Shotty gone like everyone else but are you seriously blaming him for our WRs not getting separation. That's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.

He is not setting up the WR's to succeed... There are worse WR's doing better...

Not really. We do VERY little in terms of scheme to open up the deep passing routes. We need to start making the defense respect our short passing game with screens and slants, and then take advantage of them biting up to the line of scrimmage.

Our offense would be much more effective if we ran more slants and play action plays. The deep routes would open up.

The plays aren't good enough for the long ball. They rely on speed which the

receivers have none of. The fastest guy on the team is sitting on the bench

with Clowney written in the back. You'd think they would take plays from Green Bay

that opened receivers up down the field and start practicing / using them.

Favre threw deep all the time last year and never had a problem with guys

getting open. They were the #2 offense right behind New England for a real

good reason because guys got open everywhere even 70 yards down field.

These coaches just need to stop the "keep at it" mind set and take a new approach

to their coaching. Every one of em. This team will be a tip top shape then and

really something to fear.

I hate the fact that I'm actually defending him here but receivers not getting separation isn't his fault (well maybe slightly since his playcalling is so terrible:rolleyes:). But for the most part its the WR job to get open. If our receivers don't run good enough routes or are just not fast enough to get separation on CBs that's their fault. Its not like teams are sitting on the deep ball all game, we are mostly a short passing team. Its just that we don't really have any gamebreaking WRs. Part of the problem in is that we have two #2's but no #1.

You can't blame everything on the coaching staff. Maybe the players need to do a better job as well.
