gg
every weeknight. should be interesting http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28119153/ Jay Leno may be sticking around NBC longer than previously thought. According to the New York Times, the network will announce on Tuesday that it has signed the comic and talk-show host to a new contract to host a 10 p.m. weeknight show similar to "The Tonight Show." The New York Times report notes, "The daily program with Mr. Leno would effectively cut back the number of hours NBC needed to fill each week from 22 to 17." The newspaper also reports that the new Leno show will be filmed in his current Burbank studio, and that "The Tonight Show" with O'Brien as host would move to a new studio. Bob
There's no way NBC gives the 10 p.m. slot to Leno five nights a week. Maybe a weekly show.

uart
I'm sure the millionaire with one of the easiest jobs in the world could care less. He could've been a millionaire on CBS, with a guarantee for a 11:30pm timeslot and no lead-in to overshadow him. Leno's agreement to retire was the reason he stayed at NBC. Lil Bit Special
I think its a great move if they decide to give Jay a show similar to what he does now... A tonight show-type for people who have to wake up early. It would compete with the 10pm newscasts that dominate in the ratings now.

uart
No, I meant CBS. He had an offer to take over the Late Late Show when his last NBC contract was over. It came with the guarantee that he'd get to host the Late Show whenever Letterman retired. He ended up re-upping with NBC because NBC convinced Leno to announce his retirement in advance. ABC starts their late night talkshows at a weird hour. Conan was never in serious talks with them. (Technically Conan's contract offer wasn't from CBS though, it was from Worldwide Pants...). Leno is mediocre.

I myself like Leno a lot.

He will be just as good at 10pm as he was at 11:35 if not better. BY the way... what shows here can he not compete with? There is no "HOT" shows in this list... 10pm time slot... Bugg
Never happen. NBC would get stomped in the ratings. There's a reason this stuff is relegated to late-night.Thing is Leno's show is a given in every way-costs, steady ad revenues, zero project development, NBC owns the facility, no actors,a few writers. It's totally an in house production, it has a guaranteed built in audience. An hour of prime time network telivision show is damn expensive and not necessarily a surefire hit. Leno's going to be cheap and easy, and already has a set number of known viewers. Bigger question-when does one of the big networks wake up and dump it's news division? That's a collasal expensive waste and duplicates CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and CNBC and the internet. And in this day and age no one is blocking out a half hour to see Katie Couric. JohnnyHector
Breaking News: CSI is garbage. Newsflash: All 3 CSI shows are in the top 12 in ratings this season, with the original being #1. I've never watched an episode of any incarnation of CSI, but they've been a home run for CBS. NBC's only programming that cracks the Top 20 in ratings is Sunday Night Football... they're already getting stomped in the ratings.
kelticwizard
If they go ahead and do this, it really means the networks are abandoning the original comedy and drama shows everyone grew up with. Between mind-numbing "reality" shows and now mediocre talk shows which were never meant to be watched for more than a few minutes, where will the original fiction programming come from-the BBC? From a reality perspective, they're complete and utter bull$hit. This shows have done more to damage the criminal justice system via placing unavailable and/or unrealistic ideas into potential jurors heads it's not even funny. Yeah I know it's a TV show, and they're all B.S. in one way, shape or form,. but those 3 are actually destructive.

FX and USA have some good shows too... They are out there, your just not looking hard enough.
