So, what pitcher is next up for the Yanks...

NIGHT STALKER

Recommended Posts

Please let it be Derek Lowe. We need a veteran, not too old, with postseason experience and more importantly, postseason SUCCESS. I want no part of the Yankees matching the Braves offer for AJ Burnett. The only time the guy stays healthy is in a walk year. Get me Derek Lowe and I'm ready to play the 2009 season with the pitchers we have.

Every time I saw Burnett pitch vs. the Yankees, he was lights out, challenged hitters and threw strikes. We should be so lucky to have the Pods get the stupids and ship us Peavy, but between Lowe and Burnett, I like Burnett.

The only time Burnett pitched well was against the Yankees and the Red Sox. Thats it. THAT IS IT. You cannot judge a pitcher by just that. You can't. His stats and injury proned-ness shows that the Yankees should stay far, far away. It is Carl Pavano Part II and if they don't understand that than we don't deserve to win.

Burnett smells like Zito

Burnett throws 97+

Zito throws 71+/-

much more room for error, he is not Zito, or even close to that type of scenerio.

injury prone, yes...if you're gonna compare him to a dud, look no further than his former Marlin teammate, Mr. Carl Pavano.

Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that the Yankees are close to signing Derek Lowe to a four-year deal worth between $68 and $72 million.

However, the Phillies are apparently still in the mix, which could keep the Yankees from announcing the additions of both Lowe and CC Sabathia on the same day. Adding both starters would presumably take the Yankees out of the running for A.J. Burnett despite the fact that they were said to be ready to top the Braves' $60 million offer to him as late as Tuesday night. Dec. 10 - 9:32 am et
