I tried to call friends of mine in the Catskills this morning...no phones and apparently no power either from what the news says. Ice on the power lines snapped them all. I tried to call friends of mine in the Catskills this morning...no phones and apparently no power either from what the news says. Ice on the power lines snapped them all. I live in the Catskills. Power has blinked, but not stayed out here. There are plenty of places where it's out, though. There was ice, but no snow on the ground when I woke up. Now, there's snow on top of it. Lovely friggin' day.

We'd lose power for up to a week at times years ago. Where I grew up it's pretty rural and most of my friends have portable generators. Out here in Buffalo we had nothing from this front. Cold but no precip.
