Someone tell Mangini kick a field goal

Why do we give Buffalo one more chance to win when he should have attempted a field goal with 1 minute 17 seconds left. I get enough agita at work.

I agree not going for the field goal, why risk a blocked field goal against Buffalo who has one of the special teams units in the NFL. My problem is the play call. Why call a run against the strength of the defense? Especially the way they were stacking the box. The clock would stop regardless on change of possessions. I would of tried what we do best which is a QB screen. Mangini coached scared.

Couldn't agree more... 15 seconds to go, go for it. 1:17, go up 7 and lock that you can't lose.

I kind of agree, but I think they wanted to keep it out of the bills kr. He was doing pretty well, but yeah I think we should have kicked. Just one more reason to can mangini. I'm not sure why they didn't give it to Richardson.

Let's see.. 1:17 to go up 4 in the hands of their O where we could possibly LOSE or 1:10 to go up 7, and their KR gets it.. I'll take the latter.

HELL, KICK IT OUT OF BOUNDS IF YOU ARE THAT SCARED.

If JP Losman wansn't a total retard the Jets should have lost the game. Lucky win, very lucky win.

Was thinking that, myself. Ya take the FG and if Buffalo somehow manages to score, the worst case scenario is they can only tie, not take the lead. I was scratchin' my head over that decision as well.

The field goal would have been the wrong move.

You give them a chance to block and return it (see Giants game last week). If you make it you have to kickoff and they had some good returns today.

Two yards to go, you go for it, if it was under a 3 point game that may have been a different story. But up by 4, go for the kill.

I have to disagree my friend. If we had gotten the 1st down it's game over. The FG could have been good but that would have only put us up by 7. Buffalo trailed by 4 so they needed a TD anyway. FG could have been blocked which would have been disaster. A missed FG would have given Buffalo another 7-8 yards of field position. As it was they got the ball at their 25 with under a minute left. I liked the call. ::GoJets:

If our coaching staff wasn't retarded, this division would be wrapped up already. We should have beaten San Francisco, and Oakland. 11 wins is what we should have right now.

Yo Mr. Negative. I thought you were "no longer a fan" to quote you. Why do you care ?

Disagree.

That was the right decision to go for the 1st down. The Jets get the 1st down and they win the game. They kick a FG and they still have to play defense. Plus, a missed FG would give Buffalo better field position.

Going for it on 4th down was the right call. The problem was with the play selection. That was a horrible play. They're paying Favre 12 million. Don't be afraid that he'll throw an INT. Plus, a running play would not take any more time off the clock compared to an incompletion because the clock is stopped on change of position.

So, to summarize: good decision to go for it, bad decision in chosing the play.

Let me put it another way:

If the Jets converted the 4th down, do they automatically win the game?

YES. The Bills were out of time outs and the Jets would have taken 3 kneel downs.

If the Jets made the FG, do they automatically win the game?

No. The Bills would get the ball back and a chance to tie.

Thus, how can anyone reasonably argue for the FG when a 1st down wins the game automatically?

I actually agreed with the call by Mangini in that spot, which is suprising...

I don't hate the call, but I don't like the play. We completely telegraphed where we were going with the ball. Richardson, and the rest of our blocking was all lined up on that side of the play.

Our run blocking has been good, but we rarely win these strength vs strength battles when we run right up the gut.

Agreed..

This is where you guys just like to complain.. Last week Mangini was ripped for punting on 4th and 2 after the onside kick. The week before he was ripped when he went for it but called a pass. The guy can't win sometimes.. (

Go for it was the right call, I'd have preferred a pass there since the clock stops anyway if you don't get it, but I was glad to see them go for it. Jones gains 2 yards and the games over..

.

Some people just smell blood in the water with Mangini. Anything he does will be ripped to shreads.

What would a field goal have done? Given them an apportunity to block it and if the Jets made it then they had the opportunity to return it with a good return team? I dont agree with the play-they could have used a play which could have a greater chance of success than a plunge against a stacked defense or slower developing play like a power sweep. As aq matter of fact with their O Line why dont they run the old GB power sweep.

Any way its sliced the Bills still needed a TD and a run or a safe pass still takes more time than a fg attempt.

I understand that part. But you don't forgo a FG attempt out of fear that it will be blocked. You forgo a FG attempt because you are deadly confident in your ability to get the first down & end the game that way. Jones up the gut, when anyone who's watched the Jets before can tell you is coming up next, is not a sure-fire way of getting 2 yards on demand.

If that's going to be the play, then just kick the FG. Our prevent defense sucks anyway & it's not like there was 30 seconds left on the clock.
