shawn306
That is what the Jets got yesterday. That was the one thought that ran through my mind after watching that debacle of a game yesterday. The Jets had no buisness winning that game but because the Bills for some inexplicable reason decided to throw the football the Jets got a win. Offensively again they started fast getting Coles and Cotchery involved but once again struggled once they got through their first two series. Now maybe I am crazy but if your passing game starts to bog down some wouldn't it make sense to run to football ? The Jets have the leading rusher in the AFC in Thomas Jones and Leon Washington (Who deserves alot more carries if you ask me) and yet we continue to throw the football. Even opening up the offense a little more at the request of Lord Favre. This was a game where the Jets needed to run the football alot more if anything to keep that abortion of a defense off the field. Speaking of abortions of a defense... Can someone please put an A.P.B out on the Jets Defense. Where the F did they go ? Zero pass rush, very little if any blitzing (Sorry sending a LB in a 3-4 defense doesn't constitute a blitz) and some incredibly poor tackling. How can this defense with the talent they have (yes they do have talent) become so bad so fast ? Are they just worn out ? Have they have been hitting Sean Ellis' bong ? The first two years the Jets have had to scale back the defense because the players were having trouble with it. It is now happening again. Can't tackle, can't cover. There is a conservative nature to this defense that just makes me insane. All they do is sit back and let the offense dictate what they do on defense. BULLSH!T The defense should ALWAYS dictate what the offense does. If anyone watched the Ravens,Steelers games you saw two teams that defensively fly around get to the football and get there with malice in their hearts. Blitz, pound, fly around to the football (Did anyone see Ed Reed just launch himself into Holmes on that contreversial TD). When was the last time you saw a Jet do that ? There is too much thinking about responsibilities out there and not enough hitting out there. That is why our first round pick was inactive this week. Vernon Gholston should have had just one job this year. Get to the QB. nothing more, nothing less, and with Bryan Thomas now going M.I.A for a second straight season this should be the time for Gholston to be getting in there and picking up Thomas' slack. But since you have think about "Well if the running does this, and the QB takes a three step drop and the TE does a hook" the season has become a total washout for our #1 pick. The Jets have two weeks left and somehow still control their own fate. What do they have to do ? Well if you ask me. I would hook up my offense to Jones and Leon and let them carry this team to the post season. Run the football, eat up time on the clock and keep the defense off the field. It might be boring but it might be their only shot. Somehow Mangini is going to have to swallow his pride and cut his defense loose on Wallace and Pennington. They are generating no pass rush and as we have seen if you give a QB time to throw the football anyone can find an open receiver on this defense. The Jets have a second chance. Hopefully the don't blow it.
Boynton Beach Jets
The title is true, after the way Brett Farve played in the second half, our run defense played and the horrible coaching by Mangini and Company this is certanly a stay of execution. If we play this way we will get crushed in Seattle this weekend. We should just be thanking our lucky stars.
CTM
Good post, one thing that did occur to me though is that this is very similar to the Oakland/KC run of earlier in the year.. Oakland/SF were west coast games against inferior opponents that surprised everyone when they lost. KC/Buff were home games against inferior opponents that the Jets tried to give away but the opponent refused to take it.. Remember the KC game, we were driving to put the game away and the long pick 6 occurs putting KC on top. We punt quickly on our next drive, Herm gets the ball back where a first down or two wins the game and instead of throwing the ball which had been killing us all game, runs three times into the line and punts... Maybe we'll get hot now?

Could he be any worse that watching the dissappearances of Pace and Thomas, or Barton getting pushed back like a little girl on every running play? And as to the great special teams play, Gholston couldn't be any worse than James "Penalty waiting to Happen" Iphvckinblow?

Barton was credited with 8 tackles, did they count the ones he jumped on lynchs back and carried him for 4 extra yards Barton BLows....leader of pussified LB core...I'm guessing BT is his roomie
