Gholston being deactivated was a sure sign the organization realized...

Dude's a flat out bust. To be the 6th pick in the draft- and to be deactivated in Week 14 on a team with zero pass rush to speak of- goes to show what a lot of us have been saying all season.

I'd be surpised to see him active again this season- and if he has another poor training camp next year, he'll be gone.

These roster sports are obviously extremely valuable and I guess the team just had enough.

You are obsessed, you start 3 Gholston is a bust threads every week. If you can say the same thing in 2 years then I will agree with you. Now, not so much.

Can't blame the guy though. When someone is drafted #6, and he's inactive in week 15, and is also uninjured, there is a problem. I've been screaming this PREDRAFT.

While I agree that deactivating Gholston is pretty damming, go take a look at DeMarcus Ware's numbers his first year and see where he is now.

Not saying that Gholston is going to be a DeMarcus Ware but considering how this defense it built it doesn't surprise me that he is this lost.

Ware was very good in his rookie season.

Roster spots are valuable? I guess teams shouldn't carry injured recievers that will miss half the season and have zero NFL catches. I guess teams shouldn't carry four QBs. I guess teams shouldn't carry two kickers. They may be valuable, but apparently not for this team.

I do?

The guy was deactivated this week. That warrants a thread, no?

A thread yes, but not three.

Dude, i think you may be reading a little too much into this here. I don't think them deciding to deactivate him in week 15 when we are in the fight for a playoff spot is proof positive that the front office thinks he is a bust. The guy is a project and everyone there knows it, they moved him to a new position when he is already gonna have a hard time by A) being a rookie and B) being late to camp because of NFL or NCAA regs (don't remember which). So at this point it would be stupid to continue his development as a project when so much is on the line and we have a player on the inactive list who is showing promise at a position of need.

Everyone please, it is still too early to label him a "flat out bust." He may very well turn out that way, but it is way too early to tell.

And aec4 played at the lowest level of minor league baseball so you know he knows what he's talking about.

actually I played the lowest and 2nd to lowest, as there are multiple levels of Class A, but how that has any bearing here is beyond me.

At 265, he's not a DE in the 3-4.

Not a full time DE but in passing situations he can sit down and rush the passer. He looks lost as an OLB. Also Pace isn't that much bigger than him and he gets to the QB from the DE spot.

Dude you brought this on yourself. Soon as I saw that thread you started I knew it was a mistake.

doesn't really matter honestly, it just proves people can't make an actual argument to support their claims. As for the other stuff, I couldn't care less.

On pass rushing downs, fine... 3rd and long.. but Pace plays up the rest of the plays.

Me too, but somehow you felt it was relevant enough to the Jets for you to start a thread about it last week.

Gholston was deactivated. There has been no reason given. Until we know why, there is no way to read anything into it.

He may have had a bad week of practice. He may have had a family emergency. There are literally dozens reasons he could have been deactivated.

I can picture mangini coming out and saying:

"We deactivated Gholston because he's a bust."

Yep, that's what he'll say.

Well I see where it would have bearing when we're talking about how coaches interact with a player, or how they treat people behind closed doors, etc, because that experience is similar.... Most here have no idea how the actions of a coach motivate, or turn off players. That's what the discussion was about. Of course, most won't be capable of separating.

Now if we're going to talk about a player... that's totally different

Mangini didn't give an exact reason why Gholston was deactivated, but he sure gave a strong hint.

Notes & quotes: Coach Eric Mangini didn't sound terribly concerned that rookie LB Vernon Gholston needed a pep talk after being deactivated for the first time. "We're going to take the best people to help you win that game, whether your contract is 20 million, 50 million, 100 million; whether you're drafted one, 10, one thousandth," he said. "We've got to play, we've got to win."

And your vast minor league baseball experience gives you insight into NFL football how, exactly?

I'll you how. It doesn't.

It just makes you look like even a bigger jackass because you think it does.

What hint?

Telling the media that Vernon Gholston is NOT currently one of the best defensive players on this team is somehow news to you?

Everyone said Mario Williams was a bust his first year too :hand:
