Why a defense like this?

Why run a defense that hinges on the play, health, attitude and conditioning of ONE player?????

Why?? if Kris Jenkins is not playing on first down, guarantee 7-10 yards on the ground. He should NEVER be out unless it's 3rd and long. WHY??? Poor conditioning?

A4-3 would allow Devito, Ellis, Coleman and Bthomas to man the fort, maybe even Pouha, as a DT, not a NT, we have ONE NT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And no dominant pass rusher, another essential to the 3-4.

Why handcuff yourself like this???? and spend three years and millions to do it???

Help me understand, Jet fans, please, help me.

NOBODY DOES IT!!! Mangini is not qualified for this job. Singletary is.

Then tell me why 1 touch for Leon. lol

Then why Justin Miller over 10 other players off the top of my head.

I don't want ANYMORE experimental coaches, but, absolutely, i'd take singletary over Mangini, a guy who commands respect from EVERY MAN in that lockeroom, unlike mangini, whose been there at the tippy top, unlike Mangini

Absolutely, i take singletary over mangini, but i don't want either, i want a proven winner, this is NY, we deserve that!!!!!!!

My you are quite the negative #*$% aren't you ? :fighting0050: To listen to you someone would think we're 5-9 instead of 9-5. Gee maybe YOU should be the HC next year. You seem to have lots of solutions.

Was Singletary commanding respect from Vernon Davis when Davis walked away and went to the showers in the middle of a game?

I dont think were utilizing Pace the right way. He's probably our best edge rusher, disguise some blitzes for him. As Bill Cowher said to Gregg LLoyd- "rush the quarterback." Let him loose.

Bryan Thomas just sucks, sorry to say.

Something we can agree on Matt. BT had that one very good year but hasn't done diddly before or after. Likewise I want to see Pace actually do what we brought him in here to do. ::GoJets:

Thomas does suck, but Pace is no edge rusher. I mean he can do it, but if a T is blocking him he's not going anywhere.

Sadly you are probably right. I think Murrell is probably better as a pure pass rusher, but he is so much inferior at LB he can't be played on normal downs.

I like Murrell on 3rd downs. At this point, he cant be any worse than Thomas.

Didnt he set some sort of sack record at UAB? This guy has never shown the ability to get constant pressure on the QB since he's been here.

Constant? I'd be happy with intermittent.

I have never like him, but he is an adequate OLB. Certainly nothing more.

He was originally the guy Herm/Bradway imagined would be paired up with Abe to form a dominant pass rush. I believe they moved Ellis to DT(guy still looks like a DT, but that's a whole different story).

Thomas is JAG and Jets fans will always remember him as the guy we took instead of Ed Reed.

I remember him quite well. Hated him from the start. In fact, I think he was the workout warrior, not DRob or Gholston. Gholston went where expected because he performed as expected at the combine. DRob might have gone up at the combine, but I remember a lot of people ranting about dissecting his game tape and saying the reason he didn't stand out in Kentuky was because their line was weak and he was facing double and triple teams. I remember Thomas came out of nowhere because he ran a good time at the combine. Neither he or Gholston have shown any signs of pass rush moves at this level. Abraham looked the part from the beginning.

The whole thing smacked of taking Blair Thomas when Freeman McNeil was playing so well.

I know I've been over the top with Gholston(possibly unfairly :D) BUT....John Abraham is the main reason why. In 2000 you could really see that this guy had IT as a pass rusher. His rookie year he was our edge rusher in the 3-4, and looked dominant. Unfortunately that year was just the tip of the iceberg with his constant injuries.

Maybe its unfair to compare Abe to Gholston, but both came in as pass rushers, thrown into the 3-4. One guy looked he could do it, the other has looked totally lost.

Bryan Thomas like you said, you could tell from day 1 this guy didnt have IT as a pass rusher. Somehow he's managed to hang around here for 6 years now.

They are very different players though. Abraham (and supposedly Thomas) were speed rushers. Gholston seems big and strong. He's supposed to have speed and moves too, but he's not going to look the same as a guy that runs 4.5. Gholston is totally lost and even those of us that liked the pick admit that and say he's been a huge disappointment. Doesn't mean he won't turn out to be a decent player later and saying they should cut him is a joke. AEC may be an ass, but he is the only guy I remember saying not to pick him over any players still on the board at 6. Everybody else wanted Ryan, Long or McFadden.

The 6th pick was just such a bad spot.

Off topic, but McFAdden(injured I know) doesnt look all that impressive either. The guy doesnt have many moves past the line of scrimmage.

If the coaching staff feels he can turn inot a decent player...then yeah, obviosuly keep him around.

But I dont want the guy taking up space both literally and on the roster if he cant figure it out. I like Mangini decide that. As of now, I think he's pretty much had it with the lack of progress with Vernon.

I know he's in Oakland. But I maintained that before the draft too. I'd take probably about 5 backs drafted over McFadden right now. For the same reason I was concerned about him prior to the draft.

Until he is out of oakland he will do nothing

If i was his agent, i would have told Al Davis to Phuck off

That was a senile Al Davis pick. CS did NOT want him. RB was a position of strength and they had SO many need areas yet they chose a RB. Go figure.
