sometimes i need to remind myself how young you are....

the kids name is adolph hitler .. the president elects middle name is hussein .. not saddam hussein if that is what you are referring to.

also saddam was an evil evil man.. but he wasnt anything like hitler who was evil beyond compare.

just not the same thing.

and yeah this thread will get locked soon

both performed acts of mass genocide...so to a certain extent, it is the same thing.

yes.. but then there are tons of leaders we could add to that ..idi amin, benito mussolini, etc...

but part of the point i was making is that naming a kid "adolph hitler" is different from giving a child a middle name of "hussein" which is a common name as was adolf before hitler came along.

Plenty of times and I'm usually the only white/American person there.

It's America equal rights is equal rights not equal when you agree with it. The parents no matter how ****ed up have the right to name their kid what ever they want. How many black kids are named or change their names to a Muslim name that might offend people. As an in individual in this country you can do stupid things that you think are right as along as you don't break any laws. As a public organization you can't unless it doesn't offend the main stream. American Indians have been complaining for years about names of sports teams but no one cares because it's a small group without much political power.

If you want our so called freedom then you have to deal with **** that you don't agreed with. That being said the parents should change their own names so the kids don't have to grow up with that kind of pressure on them.

Also it's funny that people whine about racist stuff against blacks and Jews (mostly) but could careless about what is said or happens to gays or lesbian because they don't agree with what they are. You can't have your cake and eat it to people, you either want total freedom or you don't. It doesn't only work when you agree with it.

No one is saying they don't have a right to name their kid whatever they want. Hell, you can name their kid Osama Hitler Stalin York Mick if you want to.

That doesn't mean others aren't well within their right to call you an *******. Further, a business has the right to refuse service to anyone. The exercised that right. That's all there is too it.

As for the gay point, you're dead on, most people that are anti-gay, love girl on girl porn. Most people are hypocrites.

here's where we disagree. it's no difference. if those neo-**** animals liked the name, then they liked the name. it's a ****ed up name, but they have every right to name their kid that.

president-elect obama's middle name is hussein. guess what? it's sill a ****ed up name...and his muslim father gave him that name. while his name is a coincidence, barack didn't pick his name.

neither did little adolf.

that's the point. just make the cake, and serve the friggin kid. it's not his fault his parents are lunatics. now those parents have every right to contact the ACLU  and sue that bakery for "discrimination".

The parents named him that well after Hitler committed his acts.

Obama was born well before Hussein became a monster.

And the store can refuse service for any reason. If your name was f#ckface they wouldnt put that on the cake. And the family just wanted to cause problems.. they couldnt walk over to the baking aisle and buy some gel writing?

They will put ****face on it, I had one of the dancers do it when she was buying a cake for the bartender (it might have said dickface I can't remember). Anyway, if a black couple would have went in there and asked for a cake with the name Osama Bin Laden or Hussein on it for their little boy and they refused it would be all over TV as well as protests and whatever else.

And for the people who don't think that Hilter and Hussein are on the same level, you're dead wrong. They're one in the same, same act during a different time.

They were not refusing service because they were white supremacists, they were refusing service based on the content of their message. Are you telling me shoprite legally should be required to draw swastickas on cakes?

Sure, if the Campbells wanted to press charges, they could probably make a case to force the shoprite to do it by providing a birth certificate showing it was legally his name. But barring that, it's a judgement call on what's 'offensive', and in this case, it was deemed very much so.

There is right, and there is wrong. With the exception of sociopaths and other mentally ill people, WE ALL KNOW THE DIFFERENCE.

Jesus, what are we becoming?

These people are *ssholes. I know they have rights--- THAT'S BESIDES THE POINT.

Let's all just try to get through our lives by being kind and decent to one another. Those who choose not to, well let's shun them.

It's that simple, people. I don't need a lawyer, or a newspaper writer to give me all the nuances. If they want to go through all of this nonsense with a fine tooth comb, and sort it all out, have at it.

I'm not wasting time no more on *ssholes.

I'll pray for the kids, they are going to need it.

THAT particular store wouldnt. And they can choose what they do in their store.

Whether any store will write what is requested is up to them. They can refuse to do it.

If someone who works in a store and had their family destroyed by Hussien, i would fully expect them to refuse to write Saddam Hussein.

I don't think anyone is saying this.

I think (KNOW) that people are differentiating between 'same name' and 'named after'. The first being a coincidence, with the latter being an homage.

Lol, I feel sorry for anyone offended by the kids name, almost as sorry as I feel for the poor kid whose going to grow up knowing nothing but bigotry...

This whole thing is dumb and personally if I was the supervisor at Walmart I would've made the damn cake like any other. Why give them the attention that they were so obviously looking for?

Wal Mart did it. Shop Rite refused to decorate the cake.

"Hill Street Blues" had an episode where all the cops on the show invested in the funniest comeidan they had ever heard-Vic Hitler. it didn't work out.

These attention whore parents are the dumbest white people on earth. If you want to be a dumbass white supremacist, fine, make a mess of your life. But to do that to your children is child abuse.

I don't want this to come off as an endorsement of Barack Obama... BUT:

1) Obama was named well before Saddam Hussein began his reign. (Obama was born in 1961, Saddam didn't take office until 1979).

2) Other famous Husseins include King Hussein of Jordan, who is (i think) still the only Arab head of state to sign a Peace treaty with Israel.

barack didn't pick his name.

Which is why its silly for people to be worried about his name. A name says more about the namer than the namee.

And I would LOVE them to ask the ACLU to represent them. There's a test of principles, eh?

These people are *ssholes.

I TOTALLY agree.

I know they have rights--- THAT'S BESIDES THE POINT.

Is it?

I'm going to go to the store and see what kind of ****ed up name a can get on a cake :D, I'll posted pictures later.

Well, I can promise you that there is a Carvel in Phoenix that will put just about anything you want on a Cookiepuss.

I hope nobody named their kid Alexander. Dude conquered pretty much the entire known world, and you don't conquer people without killing most of them.

Or Christopher. That guy decimated pretty much every native he found. Or Elizabeth, who conquered and enslaved many (Britain had slavery before the US did, since we didn't even exist until afterwards).

The examples can go on and on. But Adolf Hitler was in his own special breed of evil. He has rightfully been vilified. What he did was really evil, widespread, and popularized. If you could find the name of the guy that invented slavery or the guy that decided to infect Blacks with Syphilus and then deprive them of treatment back in the 70s, get that knowledge out to people and drive the media campaign for it, then those names would start to dissappear too. But right now, there is absolutely zero comparison to "Adolf Hitler" and "Hussein." Hell, I'm pretty sure the name Adolf is still used in Germany now, just not the name "Hitler" especially in conjunction with it.

http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/nation/ny-uscake1218,0,6702187.story

A three-year-old boy named Adolf Hitler Campbell had to get his birthday cake out of state, after a local supermarket refused to spell out his name on a cake for his birthday party last weekend.

A story in a local newspaper prompted an outpouring of angry online responses directed at Heath Campbell, 35, and his wife Deborah, 25.

"I think people need to take their heads out of the cloud they've been in and start focusing on the future and not on the past," Heath Campbell said Tuesday in an interview conducted on the other side of the Delaware River from where the family lives in

Hunterdon County, N.J.

"There's a new president and he says it's time for a change; well, then it's time for a change," he continued. "They need to accept a name. A name's a name. The kid isn't going to grow up and do what (Hitler) did."

Deborah Campbell said she phoned in her order last week to the ShopRite in Greenwich, just east of downtown Phillipsburg on the western edge of New Jersey. When she told the bakery department she wanted her son's name spelled out, she was told to talk to a supervisor, who denied the request.

Karen Meleta, a spokeswoman for ShopRite, said the Campbells had similar requests denied at the same store the last two years and said Heath Campbell previously had asked for a swastika to be included in the decoration.

"We reserve the right not to print anything on the cake that we deem to be inappropriate," Meleta said. "We considered this inappropriate."

The Campbells ultimately got their cake inscribed at a Wal-Mart in Pennsylvania, Deborah Campbell said. About 12 people attended the birthday party on Sunday, including several children who were of mixed race, according to Heath Campbell.

"If we're so racist, then why would I have them come into my home?" he asked.

The Campbells' other two children also have unusual names: JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell turns 2 in a few months and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell will be 1 in April.

Heath Campbell said he named his son after Adolf Hitler because he liked the name and because "no one else in the world would have that name." He sounded surprised by all the controversy the dispute had generated.

Campbell said his ancestors are German and that he has lived his entire life in Hunterdon County. On Tuesday he wore a pair of black boots he said were worn by a German soldier during World War II.

He said he was raised not to avoid people of other races but not to mix with them socially or romantically either. But he said he would try to raise his children differently.

"Say he grows up and hangs out with black people. That's fine, I don't really care," he said. "That's his choice."

Some people's overwhelming stupidity and incredible desire to get people to pay attention to them never ceases to amaze me.

I am an open minded, tree humping, flower child from the sixties. :hipp: I would not discriminate against anyone for anything. If I owned a bakery, I would write anything that a customer asked me to. A name is just a name.

except ... of course ... Rich Kotite.

Get the f#ck out of my store, you douchebags!!!!
