RAIDERS RELEASE ROBERT THOMAS

A league source tells us that the Oakland Raiders have released veteran linebacker Robert Thomas.

Thomas, a first-round pick of the Rams in 2002, signed with Oakland prior to the 2006 season. He appeared in every game but started none in 2006. The following year, he had 10 starts in 14 games.

This year, Thomas landed on injured reserve after two games.

Releasing Thomas from injured reserve saves the Raiders roughly $71,000 in base salary, if Thomas doesn

Meh, he burned out before he got to the Raiders. That is different than being drafted by the Raiders or having your career killed out there. I'd love to try some of the Raiders underachieving drafted players out. Like Robert Gallery. Is he still even on that roster?

Yeah they moved Gallery to LG. He's playing lights out.

Yup and he's turned into a damn good LG too. They still have a God awful line around him though.

Which is the exact reason i like picking linemen early. Even if you "miss" on selecting an O-tackle, chances are you can play him somewhere else on the line and he COULD still be effective.

Sure they would rather have had a LT playing lights out but at least they didn't lose their entire investment like they are doing with J Russell.
