Matt39
We did get two gift fumbles though! Yay. Mike just said this was the 4th LT the Seahawks used this year. Maybe sometime in the next 20 years the Jets will have a good defense. I wont hold my breath. Favre's the easy target. The defense has been absymal all season. FAct is, there are only two players worth a damn- and one is completely gassed.

Best thing you can do is look at the worst of the misfits. Start casting from there. Agreed. Its both sides, I just think the offense this year was much better than the defense. The defense has been beyond pathetic. The Titans game they got lucky with drops- they didnt play well. The one game you could say they were good was the Rams- and even then it was because of turnovers. If you cant force three and outs you cant be a good defense. If you cant stop teams on thrid downs, ditto. The Jets were absolutely absymal all season with both of those two things. 3-4, 4-3 it doesnt matter. The defense has sucked since the 90's. Can we please bring someone here that can fix it.

I am really not sure what went wrong with it athe at line (missed tackles is big though) in the 2nd half, but it looks like a unit that can be salvaged. Revis looks to be a good start. Coaching in teh secondary appears dismal, or these guys are very stupid. They do not know assignaments and blindly pass off receivers. The run game on offense looks like it can be something. they opened holes we thought we would never see. That leads me to QB, where our WRs and offensive line scheme and the QB are an ill fit. None match each other. This is not a pass blocking unit that can hold rushers off for 5 seconds. And the WR's nbed time for separation. How do you buy time? have a QB who can slide and move and even get to the edge. We are married to teh WRs and the O-Line for a little bit of time. Where is your obvious move? Yes, QB. Even if he is a living legend. He does not fit.

And honestly what kind of name is Maurice Morris? Who does that to their kid, pierre peters? John Johns? Thats the most ridiculous name in the NFL besides Stylez G white. When the whole team shows no energy or life for a month, it has to go back to the top! There's a fundamental flaw in Mangini's thinking. He had every opportunity to right the ship. But as JMJ pointed out elsewhere, his passivity and failure to adjust plagued him as a DC. He's still making the same mistakes he did 2 weeks ago. Did he really think kicking a FG or punting is a good thing against a bad team? It saddens me and frustrates me because he lied during his first press conference. Plus, when he had nothing to lose in 2006 he coached completely different than he did in 2007 and 2008.

FAct is, there are only two players worth a damn- and one is completely gassed. True. But the offense is as bad.And certainly coached as bad. We had the AFC's leading rusher and the NFL's leader in all-purpose yards. We have an OL that has 4 well-paid former 1st rounders, 3 of whom are Pro Bowlers. The whole first drive of the game consisted of said running game brutalizing Seattle defense that would have been looking to with if they got down 14 points early. The conditions were horrendous for passing the ball. And this wasn't a surprise, it was the forecast for days. And we even had 2 consective drives in the 2nd quarter where we got decent 1st down yardage. And what do Mangini and Schott do but have Favre throw the ball around like it's 80 and cloudless? Mangini went on all presser about the week of great practice. Question becomes what the eff were they doing in practice? WTF kid of gameplan was that? As far as talent, spare Revis, Jones, Washington and the OL, there's no one on this team that is earning their salary. Whcih ahs become the problem for year; we have a team chock full of guys who got great coin who haven't accomplished anything in green, but still strut around with attitude. Final note-I know 2nd hand Eric Barton is a total douchebag/sheetheel of a human being. It's some consolation that he will soon be living in a fridge box,and he deserves it. And at least we won't have to watch him miss tackles or get dragged 7 yards by bad RBs.

I agree with you, but I dont think anyone can deny that the offense showed more spark than the D throughout the season. Schotty is just a complete idiot- has zero feel for the game. Considering how poor our O waslast season- they obviously made some improvements. I cant say that about the defense. They sucked all season. And dont give me the BS about stopping the run in the beginning. We could never get off the field on 3rd down because we couldnt stop anything thrown on us ALL F'ING SEASON. The defense played like **** in game 1 against the pass and continues to. We got extremely lucky with the turnovers forced. And if history has shown us anything- those turnovers you get one season dont happen the next. See 2004 Jets vs 2005 Jets. Especially since a majority of our TO's forced were fumbles, not picks. Agree. It really is pick your poison. I don't understand how you rush 3, leave 8 back supposedly in coverage, and 1 of those no more than 5 eligible receivers(no one had to have a back stay in given the Jets' lack of a pass rush), often the TE, is running free as if he's in an a open field, catches the ball. Even when there's a safety or corner or LB blitz, they don't get there(why Rhodes or a corner has to line up 10 ayrds back on a blitz-you still had 6 or 7 guys back there; another example of overthinking things). Don't understand if you realized about week 1 of camp that Gholston was so limited, had him talking to LT, and then still didn't just put him out there solely and only to get the QB. They had NO PASS RUSH all season. Why not try it?Instead of focusing on a palyers's failinsg, why not try to take advantage of what eh could do? Because what ever coverage scheme they ahd utterly sucked. Might as well have knocked the QB on his ass a few times each game. But none of that seems to ever been considered. After the debacle of Edwards, I really hoped Mangini would succeed. He seemed like a bright, hard-working, down to earth zero BS guy.And instead he's become as pigheaded and close-mined as could be. Who gives a flying eff about a good week in practice when you lose like that to a bad team playing out the string with a lame duck coach?
