SayNoToDMC
PATS MIGHT NOT HAVE SEYMOUR ON SUNDAY Posted by Mike Florio on December 24, 2008, 8:31 a.m. EST In a season during which the New England Patriots have endured a rash of significant injuries, they might have to deal with yet another one as they make a last-ditch effort to secure a berth in the AFC playoffs. Defensive end Richard Seymour has a back injury. He missed practice on Tuesday, and his status for Sunday’s game at Buffalo is uncertain. “We’re always prepared for somebody to go down,” said backup defensive lineman Mike Wright, according to the Boston Herald. “The guys who have stepped in have done a great job when called upon. I think that says a lot about the coaches and the players, about us always staying focused and being ready. That’s one positive about our team.” If Seymour can’t go, he would be replaced by Jarvis Green. The Pats have played most of the season without the likes of quarterback Tom Brady, running back Laurence Maroney, safety Rodney Harrison, and linebacker Adalius Thomas. If they can make it to the playoffs after nearly 16 full games without Brady, coach Bill Belichick arguably will have authored the best coaching job of his career. Though it won’t be enough to overcome the likes of Mike Smith, Tony Sparano, and/or John Harbaugh for the Coach of the Year award, it likely will be even more satisfying for Belichick than his performance in 2007, which resulted in the Coach of the Year designation. I got excited when I first read this but then I realized A) I don't even know if I want the Jets to make the playoffs at this point and Jarvis Green is still probably better then either of our starting DE
Irish Jet
Nice. That would help Lynch out a bit, that's for sure.
chris66
Jarvis Greeen is more than a capable backup
Garb
Seymour not playing is a bad thing. Green is a fine subsitute - but what it does is limit the rotations with Wright - which means Wilfork is 'gonna get tired. Which could mean Lynch will be huge in the second half.
