i honestly dont think he'll be fired.......

i think Sutton will be replaced and see what happens with that before Woody cans Mangini

I unfortunately agree Mangini will not get canned, likely we will have 2 new coordinators. I just hope it is not Romeo Crenell. We need a innovator on defense, somebody who can make adjustments as the game dictates,

The more I think about it, the more i realize Mangini will be back nad deserves to be

We are the Jets, coming off a ****ty season. We will finish 10-6

Can't fire a coach for finishing 10-6

The NFL F-ed us by sending us our west 4 times.....that was what killed us

You can't fire a coach for an overachieving team finishing 10-6. However, when a team underachieves to 10-6, you can fire a coach for holding the team back.

We lose because of Mangini and we win in spite of him.

10-6 teams aren't supposed to lose to Oakland, San Francisco, and Seattle and escape with wins against the Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs, at home, by the skin of their teeth.

Also, in 3 of our wins (Miami week 1, Arizona week 5, New England week 9), we opened up huge leads only to give it all back and have to win the games on last second interceptions, last drive TDs, and overtime FGs.

All of the above is terrible, terrible coaching. We are 10-6 BECAUSE of our coach. With any competent head coach who has a clue what he is doing, we're 13-3 at worst.

*Edited to add*

We still have to win this week to go 10-6. That is certainly not a given.

AFC teams not named the New York Jets are 10-1 when travelling to the West Coast.

It should not be such a problem and guess who should take some of the blame for that? The Head Coach.

10-6 + No playoffs is simply not a good season. Not after the off-season we had.

9-7 Mangini stays...and deserves another year

It is what it is

He lost games to Seattle (4-11), Oakland (4-11), and San Francisco (6-9).

Barely beat Cincinnati (3-11-1) and Kansas City (2-13) at home.

Nearly handed blowout victories back to Miami (last second INT in the endzone), Arizona (35-0 at halftime, we had to score a TD with 5 minutes left to seal the game), and New England (Up 24-3, ended up winning in overtime).

That is piss poor coaching.

He deserves what? Woody buys him additional pro-bowlers, they have a cake schedule, he's had his 3rd season to refine his powerhouse 3-4 and WCO and the asshat could easily have 3 more losses to chumps that were eeked out at the buzzer.

What exactly is it he deserves?

I'm hoping he gets what he deserves and the next we see him it's on the other side of the field. F'k him.

Personally I think it helps my team for Mangini to remain the coach of Jets so I am all for it.

But he had the perfect storm.

1. His chief divisional rival lost its league MVP week 1 and then proceeded to fill the IR list with many of its marque players.

2. Has 7 probowlers many acquired thru FA including a HOF QB.

3. On the cusp of losing the division to team that went 1-15 last year and whose best positional upgrade was picked out of the Jets garbage heap.

4. 6th draft pick

5. very easy schedule.

6. relatively few injuries. (I didn't say none)

If Mangini can't take the team to the playoffs this year, what chance does he have to do so next year when Brady is back?

Be realistic. No NFL coach is losing his job after more than doubling his team's win total from the previous year, regardless of the offseason additions made.

I want to be clear, this post is not meant to support of defame Mangini in any way.

This team was 4-12 last year. They added a ton of talent and up until the second Pats game, nobody thought of the Jets as a serious contender and only had one or two impressive performances to that point in the season.

Then they beat the Pats in Foxboro and handed the Titans their first loss and everybody had them as the team to beat in the AFC. Those two wins created insanely high expectations that have now come back to bite Mangini in the ass as the team has played like dog**** for the last four weeks.

Prior to the season, even with the additions we made, the conventional wisdom for the Jets was a ceiling of 10 wins with most people thinking 8-8.

Now Mangini has gone out and done exactly what most expected him to do prior to the season record-wise. The main reason for the hatred and venom is a backlash to the expectations created by two wins.

He absolutely could have done a better job and this team should not be needing a win and help to make the postseason on Sunday. But he ain't losing his job for winning more than twice as many games as last year.

Expect Sutton to be gone and replaced by Rob Ryan and expect Schottenheimer to be gone and replaced by Callahan.

Remember, Woody has not yet fired a head coach. Plus, he gave Herm the opportunity to dump his D-Coordinator after a 6-10 year and replace his O-Coordinator after a 10-6 playoff season.

Four of the seven ProBowlers were draft picks. Favre made the ProBowl on rep this year.

I don't like to criticize the Jets because i feel it's not my place. It's Jets fans place. But the Pats fan here made some valid points imo.

I'm not thinking he'll get fired and I sure don't think he has what it takes to be a successful NFL HC - but thats my opinion. I'll know we're really screwed if the Sutton firing is the only move that gets made. As soon as Favre was signed and Chud was booted I was thinking 10+ wins with a playoff berth. The game that made me think we had the tools to really play with anybody out there was the AZ game. As sickening as the defense was - the offensive punch and ability to move the ball was something we hadn't seen here for a long time. The Pats game was won with a coin toss and the Titans were/are very good but I saw them almost lose to the Bears at Soldiers Field.

The fact that I think he had the tools to make this team a lot better than it was this year and didn't because he's a loser has got nothing to do with whether he'll be fired - regardless of what happens Sunday.

yes Mangini fired-PLEASE...also, if Brett Favre is hurt then let him take snaps on the first series to keep his streak going before he retires and then replace him with Clemens (I know I know I wish it'd be Ratliff too but look at who our coach is) for the rest of the game-at least he'll be able to avoid the rush better than Favre. I'm done with both Favre and Mangini-both have let us down big time
