My AFC playoff prediction

Recommended Posts

Here's how i see things shaking out in the AFC by the end of the weekend.

1. Titans

2. Steelers

3. Patriots

4. Chargers

5. Colts

6. Ravens.

Hopefully that leaves a Ravens/Pats and Chargers/Colts matchup wildcard weekend. Should at the least be 2 good games imo. Really don't want the Pats in but at this stage who can bet against em'?

Would be an intriguing matchup between Pats spread offense vs Ravens defense.

Colts/Chargers would be great game as well. For some reason, the Chargers seem to match up with the Colts better than any other team.

How would you guys predictions look?

Stiller, don't be jinxing my team now! ;)

SD could very well be the scariest team right now.

Pats, Jets or Phins really shouldn't scare anyone. Being a Pastie expert, I laugh when people say they are afraid of the team. Two convincing victories that certainly masked their dire starights in the secondary. IF they make it, all the opposition has to do is throw to the TE. Heap, Keller, Gates....

Out of the AFC East teams no-one should be scared of the Jets or Dolphins. That's for sure.

The Jets are a complete mess right now so even in the very unlikely event that they do squeak in they'll likely get destroyed upon arrival.

The Phins have Chad at QB and though I'm a Pennington fan he does not play well against the elite defenses. If he goes up against the Ravens defense it will be ugly IMO. They have no chance at the SB IMO. Not just because of Chad but he's a big factor.

The Pats out of the East have BY FAR the most potential to do something if they make it. They're rolling right now and Cassell is playing well. They're simply a well coached team and they've been there and done it before. There's no pressure on them either, this season should have been dead. They would not be a team that anyone would want to face.

I never bet against BB in the playoffs. Remember a couple years back the Chargers were supposed to kill em'? Then the Colts hadda have a miracle comeback in the AFCC the next week? He'll have your team ready to play hard and you know it, Garby.

I think the team i least wanna face though prolly would be the Colts. They just have a knack for finding ways to win. Kinda reminds of the 05 Steelers.

True. Or the 01 Pats.

Maybe Max is right. This season is a crap shoot, but I truly believe the best defense will win it this year. Who that is, remains to be seen. It 'aint the Pats though. Of that I am absolutely sure.

Screw the patriots, I am betting on the upset and/or the jags kicking ass over the ravens. Jets win, which I truly believe will happen. And, those damn chargers knocked off the colts last year which I still cant believe happened!!

But, the Colts finally beat the Steelers at home after 40 years. Its also been 40 years since the jets won a superbowl.

40 might be the lucky number here?!?

295 yards 1 TD 1 INT and nearly a 70% completion rate is not ugly imo. It's not Peyton-esque or anything, but it's not Favre either. I figure in the playoffs he throws an additional TD, and those are pretty damn good numbers if that's what happens.

Pennington will do fine against an elite defense. Nobody besides Peyton Manning plays well against elite defenses, and even he can't do it consistently. They are elite for a reason.

The Colts are a scary team, but I do see the Pats winning in the first round as well. That sets up Pats at Steelers and Colts at Titans I believe. We get to see a preview of the latter this week, although both teams might be resting several starters, it's still basically this years Giants-Pats. I think it'll be Colts-Pats in the AFC Championship (and the Pats would actually be hosting that!) where it is anybody's game, but I think Peyton pulls it off. Setting up a Manning vs. Manning showdown in the Super Bowl (maybe, I'm more confident in Peyton making it actually, but I do think the Giants are likely to get there for the NFC too).

If Miami gets in though, everything changes.

Dream on, the fins arent getting in because the jets are going to win!

Well he played Baltimore this year and actually played pretty well.

He was 24-35 for 295 yards 1 TD and 1 INT. That' an 8.4 YPA.

I do agree that, that would be a very difficult match up, but Chad has been consistent throughout the entire season no matter the opposition.

Hey, StillerPaul. We'll see you you in three weeks up at Hines Field. :D

He did play pretty well although the pick six was awful.

I'm just not convinced he'll produce against good defenses consistently enough for you to go on a run. Look, I'm a Pennington fan but your defense will need to play GREAT in the plyoffs for you to have a shot. Chad can be efficient against a good defense but rarely will he light a team up.

If the Phins make it though I'd like to see Chad to well. Unlike the majority of Jets fans I don't have a huge hatred for the Phins (Or Bills) like I would with say, the Pats. Simply because throughout my tenure of watching the NFL (Which hasn't been long) The Jets have absolutely owned the Dolphins and well they've been pretty crappy for a while in general.

I like Pennington though, always did. I'd like to see him prove a lot of the criticism which I often felt was over the top from Jet fans wrong, in fact he's done most of that already.

I would love for that to happen. Best case scenario for me would be Dolphins then Titans. We'd have to make a bet on that one. :)

Wait, why would you want to go on the road against a power running team when you could welcome a pass happy team into the not so friendly confines of Hines Field? I would assume you'd like to see the Broncos in the AFC Championship game.

As for the Dolphins, I have literally seen 50+ of these "seeding predictions" and not one of them has the Dolphins beating the Jets and winning the 3 seed.

Good, that's how I want it.

No way. The Titans may have beaten us last week but they are a conservative team and Collin's odds of playing great against my D twice in a row would favor us IMO. Not to mention the revenge factor. Screw that home field advantage too, that's been a jinx for us for a long time.

Given the choice of playing against a smashmoth offense or a scoring offense i'd take my chances against the thumbtacks every time.

40 year jinx is over for the Colts, finally beat your guys at home...;)
