thank god for the team ruining MLB.

How is playing by the rules and filling every seat in every stadium they play in "ruining" baseball?

Do you ever get tired of being wrong?

Since the Yankees won in '96 baseball has been on a consistent upswing, generating more than $6 billion last year, only slightly less than the NFL and baseball doesn't have guaranteed TV deals with every major network like the NFL does.

Attendance records are being broken yearly, the TV ratings are way up.

The Yankees have made baseball what it is.

You haven't got a friggin' clue.

Take a prozac Mikey. The days of extended conversations with you are long over.

Ha ha. You know i'm right. The Mets need an OF a 2B and 2 starters and they wern't in on many of the players they need because wilpon doesn't want to win as much as the steinbrenners do.

No, because this one I know I'm right about.

Besides Tampa Bay, how many teams that are "1-15" (or whatever) do you see in baseball make a run the following year? It's extremely rare. Why? Finances drives the majority of the best teams.

The only people who think what the Yankees are doing is right (notice, I didn't say legal) are Yankee fans. They are the ONLY people. The only reason there isn't a salary cap is because the MLBPA Cartel keeps it from happening. That union happens to be one of the most powerful in all of sports. IT TOOK A FRIGGEN ACT OF CONGRESS FOR THEM TO APPROVE DRUG TESTING.

To say I have no clue on this one just shows you're biased. I'm not a Yankees fan, that's for sure, but I am not a fan of the Red Sox or anything. I'm actually a Mets fan, and they are doing some of this crap too. It's irritating they are doing the same thing.

The funny thing is, even with all this spending, the Yankees are not succeeding doing it. That's sad. They were good when they had GAMERS, not pretty boys pulling in 9 figures.

The Yankees have the top 4 paid players in the game. Explain to me how that's "right."

The NFL is what it is because of the salary cap. Every year, your team has HOPE. It may not pan out, and your talent level may not allow it, but you have HOPE. In Baseball, you can eliminate, NOW the following teams:

* Baltimore

* Toronto

* KC

* Cleveland

* Texas

* Florida

* Washington

* Cincy

* Pittsburgh

You can eliminate them, not just for 2009, but for 2009-2015.

You wish the mets spent like the yankees do.

The Florida Marlins shouldn't be on that list, they have a very good young rotation, future starts, and a team that won 83 games last year. They're definitely a contender in the NL East.

I don't see it. Their rotation is good, not great, and they do not have anything else. Decent team, no way they win the NL East with the Mets and the defending WS champs in the division.

Now if Florida could play 40 games against the Mets a year, they'd win :)

Well that is never happening.

it will. Probably not soon though. Salary Caps actually help players too believe it or not.

It hurts the ARODs, CCs, Jeters, Teixerias of the world, but it helps the mid level guy get some more money, and it definitely helps the minimum guy.

The Yankees 500M payroll will be reduced, no question. However, Tampa and Florida would actually be forced to spend more.

Baseball, the way it is, won't survive very well. The "haves" keep getting, and the 'have nots" will keep losing. Eventually, in this economy, the "have nots" will have to go byebye.

With that said, a 30 team MLB is too big anyway. 24 teams would be perfect. BETTER quality on the field.

Now back to the Yankees, their problem is that they sign guys who BEAT UP bad pitching. Look at AROD. He's tremendous in the 8-1 game, or against lousy pitching. He's not very good against good pitching. Guess what? In the playoffs, most teams have good pitching.

There is no chance the players union will ever allow it and they are the strongest union in the history of the world.

You are probably right... I can't argue about anything above. It's a shame.

Baseball used to be something to enjoy from April - October. Now you can not pay attention until mid August, and then Football begins in September, so you don't pay attention until October.

Baseball used to be the NATIONAL pasttime. Now it's a regional sport. The networks really do not want the "Saturday Game of the Week". Fox took it because they'll take anything. The playoffs are on CABLE!!! Think about that. in the 80s, networks were BEGGING to cover baseball.. They no longer are. While, it is true that football is not getting the same interest either, they still have a huge following.

How the hell can a Mets fan say that early season baseball games are meaningless? One game in may and one in june and you're in the playoffs.
