Did he actually say "coaching changes"? If so, that sounds like bad news for Mangini.

Yes! The reporter was a tenacious little f%cker too. Woody's handler kept saying "that's all" and he kept asking the question until Woody finally answered!

hey afos-this team put me through a lot this week...I actually left the house so I didn't have to watch that load of crap-I ended up watching about 1/3 of the actual game and turned it off after Miami took the lead again-hope your dad is OK

Wow, that's crazy. To even mention that there's a possibility of a change is a very rare thing in the NFL and says a whole lot. Certainly sounds like there's a lot of credence to the reports about the Jets brass meeting and discussing Mangini's future.

I saw it also. Really was not exactly a ringing endorsement of Mangini (or Favre). That he expected this team to do plenty better than 9-7.

Time will certainly tell, but if he was even leaning towards Mangini returning he would have been a little less "we'll see" about it. Hell, even Herm got more of an endorsement through his abortion of a final season here.

I think Favre will retire & he'll cite shoulder damage as the reason (whether that is the reason or not). Of course he'll change his mind again in the spring, but short-term that's where it looks like it's heading. Then a new HC will decide how welcome or not-welcome Favre's return will be.

Ultimately, I think it will come down to who they see as being available. If they're choosing between Mike Tice or Romeo Crennel types he'll come back. If they can woo someone like Cowher or Parcells back to coach, or if there's a young guy they have a good feeling about (Rex Ryan, Steve Spagnola) then they'll go in that direction. Outside chance of promoting either Callaghan or Westhoff as well I imagine due to familiarity with the current personnel.

Thanks kiddo - tuff to get that type of info here in Chi-town.

Gotta agree - looks like the clown prince could be back where he belongs - cleaning out whirlpools if Woody uttered the word changes. It's our only hope for short term viability.

Thnink it means very little. He wasn't going to fire Mangini tonight, and he wasn't going to give him and extension either. Probably he looks into Cowher, then Billick and/or Spagnoulo. ANd then winds up bringing back Mangini with and extension and new coordinators.

I saw the interview too. What Woody said (as I recall) was that they would evaluate everything over the next week. And that they wanted to be better than 9 wins.

It sounds ominous for Mangini, although nothing is cast in stone. Until Woody threw out that line about the 9 wins, it sounded like the standard claptrap everyone says at the end of a disppointing season.

I think they'll see who's available before making a move. In typical Jets fashion, that should take up until the draft.

My predictions:

Mangini, Schotty and Sutton all get fired later this week.

Mr. T stays.

Rex Ryan is hired as HC and takes DC responsibilities.

Callaghan is made OC and Asst HC.

Westhoff stays.

Favre retires. Whether he wants to or not.

Ratliff beats out Clemens for QB next spring in an open competition.

Coles retires. Stuckey replaces him. Clowney become #3 WR.

Gholston does some blow with LT and turns into a terror.

I don't agree with stuckey being the number two but i do agree with everything else. Hoping for Ryan is a shot in the dark, it could really be anybody but i think he would be a great fit to take over a team that is already "sort of" 34 ready. We still have jack **** for outside linebacker and inside (aside from harris at least).

Stuckey does need an advanced roll, he's got great hands and is shifty enough to break a few tackles. God i hate mangini.

First round pick = Hakeem Nicks UNC (ok, i'm dreaming)
