aec4
I don't think Management is to blame. COACHING is to blame. Watch Miami Play. They know how to coach up their QB to his strengths. THEY THROW THE BALL DOWN THE FIELD ON OCCASION. They utilize the TE, etc etc. If anyone has to go, it's Schottenheimer. If it takes Mangini for that to happen, fine... My guess, you'll see Schottenheimer (no thanks) back next year, and you'll see Romeo as DC.... (which I am ok with)
ZachEY
Those of us who've been anti-chad for years, know that this is exactly what you can expect from him. Matt39
Exactly. Miami just looked so much better coached out there. Chad wasnt anything special today- he lookeda lot like he did when he was a Jet. Unfortunatley for Chad- that type of game wont cut it against Baltimore. GFJET33
we all know what chad is when it comes to a playoff game against a tough defense, come next sunday night well all be remembering why we all hated his ass. He was always good enough to get us to the big game, never good enough to get us through that big game. enough of the pennington second guessing, whining, and regretting. hes a good quarterback and thats it. I never though we could've gone to the big game with him. I still think we need to have a QB for the future and always thought keeping Pennington around would stifle that growth. This is an exciting time for Phins fans. If he's there in 5 more years talk to them then.

You've toned it down quite a bit from the other place... ahem, I won't mention which one. Bottom line... you were and have been wrong. Um... Did Pennington lead a high scoring offense? No. Did Pennington beat a good defense this season? No. In fact, he only beat one playoff team, and it was one that could be 8-8 and division champs. Did Pennington win a playoff game yet? No. So, really, none of my major points have been wrong. He's having a solid season, but is doing very little different than he did for us in 02, 04, or 06. And I've toned down the Pennington talk because he's a Miami Dolphin. Unlike some 'fans', I care about the New York Jets, and their players. This team has enough problems for me to spend my time talking about Miami Dolphins players. Lastly, I left JI and with it, the drama. You don't have to respect that, but as I ignored your posts over there, I will continue to do so over here if you'd like to act like a child. I believe Johnny Hector had the actual stat, but the Fins offense (the side of the ball the QB is on) is not really much better this year. On the other hand, the Fins defense (the side of the ball the QB does not play on) is significantly better this year. But yeah... that's irrelevant, and Chad is the best QB of all time. I think you know where to find a bone. So you were right about Chad Pennington huh? Chud isn't doing anything there that he didn't do here a couple times. And he will have his azz handed to him when he meets up with a real football team just like he did when he played here. He's a serviceable QB thats a 10 win guy in the right situation with the right schedule. No more - but potentially a lot less as we have seen here. Go away. Irish Jet
Chad's a good QB but he's limited. The problem is I think Favre at this stage was limited too which was why I didn't want Favre in the first place. Would we have been better with Pennington? Who knows. He's very well coached in Miami and they're helping him play to the best of his abilities.

Well...just like any anti-Chad guy...you try to paint me as a blind Chadaholic.... I just felt that the Jets would have probably won 10 games with Chad. My opinion of Chad has always been the same...you can win with him. The Jets mistake was in getting rid of a known quantity...Chad and bringing in the unknown. You can coach a team around Chad's abilities...you can't expect him to win a game by himself...but he will play well enough to aid a team. So, yeah..the Dolphins defense is much improved...but has Penny been better this year than last? How were his stats this season? He played well. He did his job. I am one of those idiots who is happy with a team that gets to the playoffs more times than not. Teams have been to the playoffs and won super bowls with QB's much worse than Chad. I just want to have a shot every year to win it. Teams don't dominate like they used to..the Patriots are a fluke...the idea that there is some magical QB out there for the Jets to get who will play them into the promised land is a joke. Defense and a mistake free QB is what will win it for the Jets.....
Bleedin Green
I guess Shaun Hill, Seneca Wallace, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and all those guys are superstar QBs right? Just because the Jets secondary sucks and Chad had big completions on throws that should've been easy INTs, don't make the mistake in thinking that doens't mean he still sucks. Outside of a few throws on horrid plays by the Jets, it was crystal clear that in that offense, trickery and the running game is what its all about. Lets just see what happens if Chad has to throw against Baltimore next week. If nothing else, this season still makes me happy about the fact that we're rid of that overrated loser. Chad had another one of his mediocre seasons that everyone loves to make out into more than what it was, it'll surely get him a new big contract from Miami and they'll be stuck with the same glass ceiling the Jets were for so many years while his back-breaking cap hit forces them to stick with him. His problem has never been beating the bunnies, his problem was and still is, scoring more than three points against the leagues best defenses. He's a good QB but will never be confused with a great one. That's why he's not here and it's the same reason that I'm glad he's not here.

In no way did I paint you as a blind Chadoholic. The point, as it's always been is that you can win with chad, but you can't win because of him. And yeah, we could have been 9-7, or 8-8, or 10-6 with him. And, you do get rid of known quantities when you know they aren't good enough. The point, as it's always been, is that Chad is not good enough to win at the next level. Never proven otherwise. If all I cared about was the regular season, and putting on a good showing, then yes, I'd be happy to have Chad. But if you want to talk about winning championships, which is the ultimate goal, then NO THANK YOU. Chad can beat a weak schedule. We all knew that. Chad can win with a good defense and running game. We all knew that. This doesn't change that he's been a disaster in the playoffs, that he rarely beats good defenses, and never leads a powerful offense. And, unless you have an all-world defense, you don't win the Super Bowl with that.

NJ
Defense and a mistake free QB is what will win it for the Jets..... So Chad Penningtons your guy huh? Would that be the 16 interception 80 bazillion fumble Chad Pennington from 2 seasons ago? Oh, no? You want the this years Chad Pennington? Well dimfart theres a small delta in the equation. We don't have coaching that can orchestrate anything other than a predictable clusterfu<k. You got to see a little of your old boy Chaddy with the fumble and if Barton didn't have rubberhands he would have coughed up another pick-6 which would have depressed him just like it always used to. Its not Chad's fault though, he plays "efficiently" in even years. His team even gets into the playoffs, its not his fault that those damn playoffs have to fall into the next year. How the hell is he expected to play like an NFL QB in odd years? That's absurd!

I don't know if I agree with that...I think with Pennington you know exactly what you have to do in order to win with him. You can build your team around a capable QB..which is what Chad is...he isn't the worst..he isn't great..he is capable...and if your team plays well around him..he will probably play mistake free football..which is what you want him to do. How many great QB's are there? How many of them can manage a game like Chad? There are tons of guys out there with ability that you can gamble with..but when you have a guy and know him inside and out, you can effectively plan your offense around him. With Favre...we gambled..and I was behind it 100%...I thought he could be what Chad is not..a guy who can beat a team y himself if push came to shove....the gamble failed...now we have to start all over again with a team of veteran players ready to win now. Chad did his job. Knock it all you want...but he did his job. No one thought the Dolphins would win the division. No one. Easy schedule or not..Chad did his job. All I can say is the Jets had a major let down for themselves and us fans. Very sad day for Jets nation. I'm so ready to move on to the draft and next season, with or without Favre and without Mangini. If Favre leaves, please move up and get Bradford.
