JMJ
I thought I was the only one getting the vibe for the last couple of weeks from how Cowher was talking about the Jets during the studio show. Cowher had plenty of good stuff to say about us all year long. I bet only the Mangini haters like you and I paid enough attention to notice. Jenkins was the #1 thing he pumped up. He LOVED Jenkins. And since a 3-4 is what he'll run wherever he goes, NT is the most important position. Our only roadblock would be Cleveland who also runs a 3-4 and has Shaun Rogers (another mammoth). I personally think NY > Cleveland and Jenkins > Rogers. Hopefully he agrees.
Jared
The Jets are interviewing 3 candiates in the following order, IMO: (1) The required Rooney Rule candidate (2) Random candidate who has no shot at the job, but they don't want to look like No. 1 was a farce (3) Cowher, whom they'll beg and bribe to take the job Probably true. JMJ
Yup, seen the same. He's even criticized Mangini with a bewildered look a few times, like WTF are you doing playing so passively. People say he won't want NY, but isn't the NFL program he does taped in NY? Maybe he flies in every weekend, or maybe he's in the area? He coached his entire career in PA so I'm sure he has a house on the east coast. I know for sure he has a house in North Carolina also.

Another point, Woody needs to make a splash with this hire, just for PSL purposes. He's gotta hire a big name to excite the fan base..

kelticwizard
If he does give one, I would imagine it would have to be someplace outside of the Jets' facilities, since he's no longer part of the team. I can't imagine a fired coach calling a press conference in the Jets' usual press room, can you? So I would think that press conference has been cancelled. He might give interviews to the press to individual reporters at his house or at TV studios in the next few days, or something along those lines. DaBrick Wall
Looks like Mangini will always be another retarded **** up of the Belichick family tree. I'm really surprised by this decision. I thought he was going to be back for sure.

I've read that Cowher wouldn't take the Cleveland job because he doesn't want to go against the Steelers twice a year and compete with them for the division. He has a strong affinity for the owners and organization. The Cowher family now live in Raliegh, NC, and they have a daughter at Princeton. NC is closer to NJ than Cleveland and, of course, he'd be closer to his daughter.

I'm assuming these are the type of things that a coach with Cowhers resume wants. Anyways, I hope if this is true it's something we can move past. Cowher is the man we need. Experience Passionate Loves Defense Loves the 3-4 Will rip your balls off if you screw up.

I would think that Cowher's selling point to the Jets is as follows: "First, I'm Bill Cowher. Second, I like your talent and I can win with the talent you have. Three, straighten out the quarterback situation and I'll take the job."

Their handling of the salary cap was great and I think he had issues with them letting talent leave.
Bob
I have no doubt this was done quickly to make sure the Jets are in the Cowher sweepstakes. Whether he ends up here may be another matter.

With the Jets, however, he won't have to worry about them letting people go because of the way they handle the salary cap.

I mean obviously the man needs to be convince to come here but I just see good things with him here. 3-4 D O Built for the Run Cold NE Temperatures Those are just some of the things off the top of my head. I dunno how he'd like having Favre though.

Bleedin Green
While I kept trying to tell myself he would get canned, there was this nagging voice in the back of my mind telling me Mangini would be back. Thankfully that voice was very wrong. Now just get a head coach with a pair of testicles, replace all but about 2 players in the secondary, get some damn WRs with size and/or speed and we're back in business!
