Verde
The thing I don't understand is, if Cowher isn't ready to come back WHY didn't he squelch the rumors when they first surfaced. And why would he even meet with The Browns GM?
LWC611
Not witstanding this years result, this is a "win now" team, we will probably end up with a retread. I would not mind seeing Billick the former Ravens Head Coach...

I was laughing at Mort trying to say that Cleveland has a team that ready to win. Brady Quinn, Joe Thomas, Droppy McGee and The Soldier do not a good team make. Fishooked
Cowher bleeds Steeler colors first and foremost. There is NO WAY he is going to coach in a division where he has to face them twice.

SMC
Cowher is coming to NY That just seemed like a polite thing for Cowher to say the Browns. The Browns are a disaster right now. Cowher can sign a nice, cushy contract for 3 years, $18 million or so and use the talent the Jets have. The Jets only have a 3 year window to compete with the talent they have anyway. With the Browns, Cowher would have to build the team. Cowher likes being a coach. He's never been a GM before. The Jets will allow him to coach and accomodate him on any player decisions. The best fit for Cowher, at the moment, is the Jets OR the Cowboys if Jones fires Phillips AND gets rid of TO. I don't think Cowher wants to have any headaches. Jet Moses
No offense -this org is not cursed - we just have inepteness and lack of talent to blame. I agree it's not a curse, but there is something toxic that gets passed on from team to team, coach to coach... Something viral that I think only a complete disinfecting of the entire organization can cure.

Holmgren is going to be the Cowboys next head coach. He and Jones are buddies. Holmgren already tried to stay in Seattle. Give it two or three weeks and he'll be on a podium with Jerry. faba
No offense taken. I was being polite by saying 'cursed'. Not sure I agree with the 'no talent' part, though. All fans including us Jet fans over estimate the talent of their teams. We did not have a good defense when people were saying we did as one example. Did we control the line of scrimmage on defense the second half of this season- I think not-that is talent not coaching.
PatriotReign37
The only place I see Cowher going over the Jets is to Dallas. Dallas is a strong possibility.. Cowher will land someplace where there is stability in ownership that will commit to the big picture no matter how long it takes. Pitt has had 2 HC's in like 28 years. Jimmy Johnson tarnished his leagacy in Miami.

Note then that the NFL players and coaches overrared the Jets talent. Not a single 1 of the 7 probowlers led in the fan voting. Thus, they all got in because the players and coaches in the NFL have 2/3 of the vote. The NFL believes the Jets are talented.
SoFlaJets
His daugther goes to Princeton - there is an incentive to come to New Jersey. there's a whole new dynamic now FOR going to the Jets-they are in a brand new state of the art facility and the middle of NJ is not that different looking than North Carolina where his wife is from. Also, like JetMoses said; $$$ talks and the Rooneys were never real generous with Cowher-he can make 6 times more with us in one year than he made in 5 years working for the Rooneys
Jetscode1
I was under the impression that Garrett gets that job when Phillips is done. The only place I see Cowher going over the Jets is to Dallas. Dallas is a strong possibility.. Can't see Jerry Jones hiring Cowher...Jones thinks he knows football and wants to have a coach who follows orders...Phillips is the perfect coach for him...now the meltdown at Philly along with his own need to sell PSLs for his own new stadium may cause him to think but in the end he won't bring in another strong willed head coach. He won't revisit this so soon after the Tuna left. As far as Garrett, the papers down here are reporting he may have his own problems...both Romo and Owens called out Garrett for poorly developed schemes and a failure to adjust to Eagles defensive coordinator Jimmy Johnson's blitzes...his stock is definitely plummeting. Garb
I think Jon Gruden would be an excellent, excellent choice. He has worked with mediocre to sh*tty qb's in the past and has gotten the most out of them. If Favre comes back (please God, let THAT happen) - he and Gruden are buds, right? You have to understand, NY can sell itself - but your QB situation is a tough sell.
