What changes would Cowher make?

Cowher, it is going to happen. It makes too much sense.

So what changes would he make. Defensively he has to like the 3-4. His concerns on the defensive side? Secondary (and coverage overall). Not sure who the defensive coordinator would be. Maybe an ex Pitt Def Line coach? Romeo?

Offensively? He is known to be flexible but conservative. I thought he would keep baby Schott myself but Newsday ran a headline saying that is not the case. Callahan for O.C. ?

Special Teams -- Westhoff.

Thoughts?

Doesnt matter what changes he makes, as long as he sells PSL's.

I don't know about that. Adam Schefner (sp) on NFL Network is reporting that Cowher definitely will not be coaching in 2009. He is not emotionally prepared for it right now

There is no way that Woody would have fired Mangini without a better plan b in mind. :-P

It would be like the time that Hess said the buck stops here and brought in Kotite.

The sole reason that Woody Johnson fired Mangini this morning & did not let him run out the last year of his contract (Which he always does - remember HERM?) is because he has to put something on the field (in theory) that the Season Ticket holders (the new corporate one's) will be willing to shell out tens of thousands for PSL's.

The Giants win a superbowl & go to the playoff (with a shot of repeating) and they will sell out.

We don't make the playoffs & though the naming rights are not in jeapardy (GIANTS) the PSL's are.

It's all business & nothing about the fan.

That's good news because we may get something special in a new head coach, something a no-PSL senario would not give us...

my concern with cowher is without lebeau, the defense won't be as good as we are expecting, and he has a rep as a guy who wants to shop for the groceries

I hate "big name" HC's who get the jimmy johnson disease

it's a 2 man job

I think it's all moot though, he seems to be retired, and I've caught him saying "we" a few times when he does steelers highlights. he is still a steeler at heart, so I think he stays in the studio

it's the best job going. you work about 20-30 days a year and get paid crazy money

Woody wasn't part of the same temple as Kotie was to Hess in Edison - I don't know of an NFL coach who goes to the same church as he does in NYC who would push him every sabath...

:baby:THANK GOODNESS!:baby:

Bingo! That said Cowher won't be coaching here IMO.

First off, he will put Vernon Gholston back to his normal position. secondly, he will cut Brian Thomas and he's going to search for an available "elite" LB. He's going to revamp our secondary. Ty Law is gone, Lowery will probably play more of the safety position (backup). He will find another solid Safety. He will draft a WR in the first round. while looking to get another solid DB to compliment Revis. He will start Ratliff. He will implement a split back offense as well (Thomas, Leon).

this will set up and the offensive pass like a charm.

Brett Favre is gone.

Its what would Cowher do, not what would you do. No way Cowhers starting Ratliff.

Why not? He stuck with many questionable QB's thru out his career with Pitt.

Oh I don't know, something tells me Cowher isn't sitting home right now examining the Jets 3rd backup QB.

As I'm typing this some asshat is saying Ratliff should be QB on WFAN. Some people:face:

You might wanna check the archives on this board, almost everyone was loving this guy and wanted him to start once Favre left. We all know legends are made in the pre season, against 3rd stringers.....

Ratliff is the real deal

Whether he is the real deal or not, he will not be our starting QB in 2009. Its not good for business.

If Favre cannot/does not come back, the Jets will sign another veteran name QB. They will not chance going 8 months of PSL sales with an unknown at the QB position.

Jets will once again make a big splash in FA to get Jets fans excited again, even if they arent the best moves for the franchises future. And remember, most jets fans are pretty stupid... they dont know who is good or bad, or why we sucked ass the last 6 weeks.

I don't want to see Tom Brady mentioned in this thread one more time. That wasn't supposed to happen, something that only happens to the luckiest team on the planet. Not the unluckiest.

Ok I won't.

Mark Bulger, Kurt Warner, and Mark Rypen.

But seriously scouts and the Jets FO love Ratliff and his potential.
