He also agreed to speak with the Browns. That didnt turn out so well for them.

Cowher was never taking the Browns job.

You think he wants to play the Steelers twice a year and compete for the division with them? He has to much affinity for the Rooneys to do that.

5 years, $10 million per will get it done. One thing I hand't realized-his daughter goes to Princeton, so Florham Park might be exactly where he would like to be 12 months a year. He didn't care to be GM with the Steelers, so may be he could abide by Tannebaum anyway. Besides he will have input on personnel, probably final say on draft and cutdowns and FAs, anyway. We'll see.

$10M per is only way we get him

Are you sure his daughter goes to Princeton? I thought I read last year his daughter was going to one of the Carolina schools?

Cowher to the NY Jets is my prediction since I heard the news...

They wouldn't have shot Mangini so quickly without some kind of positive news from Cowher..

It sounds like from what I am hearing on NY sports radio the reason Mangini might of got the quick hook is because he and Farve did not see eye to eye in the second half of the season. Listening to Woody he loves Farve (he likes all the jerseys sold and the media circus). Listening to Mike Tannenbaum (who is kissing Woody's but) it sounds like the Jets really want Favre back. Tannenbaum did say that there would be a coaching decision before Favre made his decision on whether to return in 2009 or not.

Here is somebody who is not on anybody radar Mike Holmgren. I just hope we do not make a decision on a coach based on what a 40 year old QB.

I'll go on record as saying I don't want Cowher. But I agree that the Jets FO does have a plan since they canned Mangini so fast.

Nobody thought the Jets could convince Favre to come here. State of the art training facility, a beautiful part of NJ -- let's see if Mr. T is as good of a salesman as we think he is.

:)

I'm telling you it's a BIG difference between trying to sell us to a coach training and practicing on Long Island where it's like you're a road team every week. Come on man, who wants to stay in smelly college dorms...Certain parts of NJ look like North Carolina to me...Bill's wife will like it there and as Faba also said his daughter goes to Princeton

I only want Cowher if his heart is in the job. If its all about the money, he can F himself.

Good point...

My perception in watching him talk about the jets is that he couldn't believe what a poor job Mangini was doing and sounded like he was itching to fix it..

we'll see...

Especially on defense. Cowher knows defense, and on one halftime show they were talking about what the Jets were doing wrong, and Cowher said if he was coaching he'd blitz, he'd bring 8 guys until they can stop it. I forget against who, was it the Broncos or Seahawks?

I really like that Cowher is a 3-4 guy. Not because I believe in the 3-4 that much but just would hate to go through another 2 - 4 years of having to switch out guys again to fit a new coach.

It's pretty easy to transition from a 3-4 to a 4-3, it's the reverse that is so tough. Everyone knows how to play the 4-3 and pretty much everyone can play it. Gholston probably would be playing at end that way.

It will be interesting to see as Cowher has never had to deal with a QB like Favre before or a team of overpaid undermotivated guys like the Jets have. Still I think Cowher can do the job. The Jets just need to make sure they get him the right assistants.

I had the same thoughts over the course of the season...it was almost like Cowher's thinking...this would be so easy to fix...not another complete rebuild just an attitude adjustment...got the same thoughts listening to Boomer talking on his radio show.

Also, agree with Barton...he sees an easy job (to him) plus plenty of ca$h but a Super Bowl winning coach has not won the big game again with another team...does he stay for the long haul (ala Holmgren) or punch after a few years of falling short (Jimmy Johnson) or do the perpetual short tour (Parcells).

Ravenscroft senior Lindsay Cowher has decided to play basketball at Wofford College, the Raleigh school announced Tuesday morning.

Lindsay Cowher is the daughter of former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher, who played football at N.C. State.

Lindsay Cowher, a 6-foot-2 forward, averaged 15.9 points and 8.1 rebounds as a junior. She was also a 2008 NCISAA 3-A All-State selection and a 2008 TISAC All-Conference pick. Cowher helped lead the Ravens to the 2008 TISAC Conference championship and the NCISAA 3-A semifinals.

Cowher will sign a National Letter of Intent on Nov. 12, the first day of the early signing period for basketball.

Maybe he was talking out or his arse but Francesca today said that Woody once made a comment that aslong as he is owner of the Jets he will want a dynamic QB and a dynamic HC. So we may not get Cowher but id be stunned if Woody doesnt at least blow him away with a huge offer.

Whether he "closes" Cowher or not, my opinion of Mike T is not going to change. He's *****ing awesome.

I agree and thought the same thing as well about Cowher itching to coach the Jets. What did Boomer say?

Play the Jay Glazer interview...http://www.wfan.com/

Its only some off hand comments...I'm most likely reading into it...but Glazer pimping Boomer for info on Cowher's thoughts...and Boomer comes back with sworn to secrecy comments...I just got the impression the guys in the booth with Cowher heard the coach give many a comments on what was wrong with the JETS and how he would fix it. It could just be natural football talk like all of us on this board or it could be Cowher is really interested...time will tell.
