docdhc
This is the one of the few coaching changes in 40+ years I wasn't happy about since Weeb retired and replaced him with his son-in-law Charley Winner. I was ecstatic when Herb left, euphoric when Kotite fired himself, grateful when Holtz quit, even happy when Walt Michaels was fired because I thought Joe Walton would be great(ha ha). I was hopeful with Coslet, and happy when he left for Carrol. I guess the only time I was this unenthusiastic was when Hess canned Carrol after one year and hired Kotite. I know most people on the board are happy but this definitely is not a slam dunk fire like most of the ones in Jet's history, because unlike most of the others, Eric wasn't a total disaster and did finish with a winning season. It's too bad that after all this time as a Jet fan that I realize some of the best moments we've had is when we get rid of an awful coach.

I dont' think Mangini was an epic failure for the reason that there is a VERY solid foundation here, but I don't think Mangini's coaching or motivation could put this team over the top. In 06 he had a powder puff schedule, this year wasn't too different. He hasn't done anything overly impressive. The draft picks and all that I guess we can give him credit, if we start drafting poorly then we know it was ALL Mangini rather then Tannenbaum.
