JetsTitans63
A total misuse and demeanor of a player. He treated Gholston just like he did Vilma before his departure. victorjets
Sure... everything was Mangini problem... Mangini gave a hard time to Leon Washington in his rookie season too. Whatever happened to personal responsibility?

OLBs are 240-260 lbs pittsburgh runs a 3-

About Vilam-guards knocked him on his ass regularly. He's too small and weak, period. Mangini might suck as a coach, but please. Gentlemen-stop overvaluing the talent here. Stop pretending some great scheme is going to change everything. Oh, if only Eric was nicer to Gholston! How dare he expect the #6 pick in the draft to be a real pro football player! What a freaking joke. Stop with the silly belief that the defense just needs a few tweaks here and there to work, or brining in some nice guy players coach will make it all right. This defense except for Revis and Jenkins is virtually useless. I suspect that if you released the other 9 guys they'd be hardpressed to get signed to their current cap numbers. Had Gholston shown any ability to get to the QB, he would have been playing. And in the 1 game they did turn his loose-Denver-he couldn't do the job.JauY Culter may be the slowest QB in the NFL and big bad #56 couldn't get him. He's too damn slow. Is that going to change? How about Mike Williams, Alex Smith, Reggie Williams, etc. And that's just recent history. He was a disappointment this year but, seriously, he didn't even have that many opportunities to fail considering he had two very capable players ahead of him on the depth chart. So conversely Ware and Merriman's successes are not because they're good players but because the coaches made them? Every player that doesn't play the position they did in college is only good or bad because of the coaching staff? That pretty much is an insult to most 3-4 players and many o-lineman. Willie Parker couldn't even start for North Carolina. Where a player went to college is irrelevant once he starts playing on Sundays. sirlancemehlot
Farrior was WAY more productive as a Jet than Gholston has been. totally true. The quote that a coach can help or hinder a player was my only point. Gholston was a combine-pick, just like D-Rob. I hate combine picks. Still, I think the right coach can get some production out of him.
jack48
Mangini probably should have used him differently. Still Gholston looks like such a puss out there I'm not sure it would have made a difference. All I ever saw him do was try to bull rush----against 340 lb OTs.
