As crazy as it sounds given his position, if Lechler hits FA the Jets have to go after him hard. Punting has been a disaster for this team for as long as I can remember.

Assuming the Jets stay in the 3-4, it looks there will be a number of 3-4 LBs available on the market that they should at least take a look at. While an OLB is probably out of the question due to all of the money tied up in Thomas, Pace and Gholston, an ILB through free agency is a strong possibility.

The Jets aren't likely to make any big financial splash after last year, but a few second tier FAs at any and all DB positions is strong possibility. A WR like Devery Henderson as a guy to bring some speed / a deep threat to the offense would be nice as well.

The Jets can't be expected to start breaking the bank this year due to all of the salaries they're now carrying, but this is the kind of year you want to see the team picked up some more reasonably priced guys who can serve as decent players at positions that the team has minimal talent and/or depth.

Asomugha and Revis would be BY FAR the best corner tandem in the league...

Well it's pretty hard to contend against the two best CB's in the league, which is what they are.

I can't see it happening though and although in a way it would be great it still doesn't fix the other needs.

I'd actually consider Ray Lewis, but I wouldn't invest money in him long term.

I would love to see Ryan as the coach and Ray lewis come along with him. The Jets need a leader like that.

I believe it was a 2 year deal, with either party having the option to back out of the second year. Which means he is not a FA.

So basically Favre and JETS have the yo-yo clause where both sides can play with eachother. Marvelous just marvelous I like Favre but realistically its time to move on.

Actually it makes sense for the Jets. The Jets can cut ties, whether Favre wants to come back or not, with no deferred money hitting next year's cap.

How is Favre not a free agent he supposedly only signed a 1 yr deal.........

Favre never signed a new contract with the Jets. When they traded for him he had three years remaining on his deal he signed with Green Baya few years ago. What the Jets renegotiated with Favre was a simple clause that said the team would not go after any signing bonus money if Favre retired before the contract ran out. Since Tampa went after money from Jake Plummer, who never actually played a down with the Bucs, I think players like Favre just want to protect themselves.

Favre is not a free agent. I have the full list up at

Per this, I'm perfectly content with saying buh-bye to everyone over the next two years in terms of FA's sans Leon and Richardson (who might be retired by then anyways). Dearth stays too I guess. Every other player in '09 and '10 can't exit fast enough. I'd certainly like to keep Coles on for depth, but he's inevitably bound to overvalue himself and bolt. The Chris Baker extension is one of the biggest wastes of time and money I've ever seen. Woody would have been better off giving me the $3 million to continuously make fun of him on the internet. It certainly would have been more entertaining and probably more productive as well.

Spend the $12m elsewhere this team has too many holes to fill. give Brett Ratliff the ball.

The ownership will not be giving Brett Ratliff the ball in 2009 or 2010. If Favre isnt around they will sign another veteran QB. They cannot chance it next year with an unknown/unproven QB. PSL's are too important to rely on a guy who looked good in the end of preseason games.

This team is built to contend now. They will do everything they can to go with veterans.
