Mac people.. can you suggest a good font manager?

It's been ages since I've used a mac but as a designer I need to collect fonts and I know that too many can be trouble if not managed properly.

Freeware or inexpensive would be great but ease of use and stability is important too.

Thanks.

PS Note to Tabor.. posted in proper spot! :)

Doesn't the fontbook that's included in the OS serve your needs? You're wise to worry about fonts. I've never understood why they screw up Macs, but they sure do.

fontbook is fine if you want to find/activate new fonts.. but if you have several thousand fonts, and don't want them all open all the time (they really can't be), or want to be able to activate sets and/or view faces before you decide which to open/close, etc., suitcase fusion is the best IMO. I used suitcase forever, then switched to font reserve, and then extensis bought font reserve and included the best features in suitcase fusion. it's really the only solution for a design pro, IMO.

Thanks all. I think for now fontbook should suffice.. I was concerned that you couldn't turn them on or off but it appears as if you can (must be a new update).

Right. I turned off most of the fonts on my work machine because we only use a few and it was a pain to scroll through them all when I needed to switch.

Just be careful not to switch off any system fonts. It'll warn you if you try.

This suitcase fusion you speak of, does it come for windows too? Or is there an equivalent?

I did a very bad thing when I had first got my PC 4 years ago. I got it when I graduated high school for college. I was getting into graphic design and hated the fact that I had to keep downloading new fonts all the time so I downloaded a huge pack of them and installed them all.

HUGE MISTAKE as you all probably know. I had no idea at the time and haven't done much to fix it. So they're all pretty much there. Anyone got an answer?
