Vicious89x
TJ talking about Favre. Nice to see someone talk reality rather then rub off the gunslinger. http://www.livesteez.com/videos/watch/BkNKPfL
JMJ
Can't argue with him. I like Favre a lot. I think he was held back by a sh*tty offensive scheme, terrible play calling, under utilization of our best weapons, and the torn biceps tendon, but with that said, you still can't argue with what TJ said there. Everything seems so muddled to me. Was it the OC? Was it the HC? Was it all Favre? The truth is if Favre does come back I'm hoping the new HC listens to the TEAM and not the QB. TJ is fully admitting that the INT's destroyed this team not only on the field but just the general morale. We've also heard other players say they dont' understand why we stopped running the ball. RutgersJetFan
Everything seems so muddled to me. Was it the OC? Yes. Was it the HC? Yes. Was it all Favre? All Favre? No, hell no. Look at it this way: Chad was good before and after Mangini. The guy plays well, Mangini comes in, all of a sudden he’s mistake-prone and disorganized. The season after he gets let go, he returns right back to his old form of not turning the ball over and playing smart. Winning as well. Clemens was a very good prospect before Mangini, comes in and plays under him, then gets drastically worse as a player. Favre is the only other player in the entire league even remotely considered with Brady for MVP in ‘07. All of a sudden, he plays under Eric Mangini, and he sucks to high hell. Am I just the only person who’s noticed this? Because it’s one heck of a pattern we have going on here. It started hitting me mid-season when I began evaluating the history of this staff’s TD/INT ratios from the QB position over the course of their tenure. Between Favre, Clemens, and Pennington, all 3 QB’s have a ratio of 54/58. That is just god awful. Chad’s TD/INT ratio as a starter in non-Mangini years, including this year, is 72/37. That’s almost 2/1. Which he’s right at this year and pretty much was the years before sans that nightmarish ‘05 year. However under Mangini he was 27/28, which is par for the course with the other two. Clemens wasn’t turnover prone at Oregon at all (especially in ‘05) and hovered around the same ratio that Chad did as a pro. Hell, even Favre was around 2/1 in his season preceding this one. That is not just some crazy coincidence. The lesson to be learned here? Stay away from Brady Quinn in your fantasy draft next year folks.

It blows me away how Chad has a CAREER year away from Mangini. Good analysis. I guess I meant did Favre kinda "nudge" the CS to get the pass more involved. IMO Mangini over complicated things and thus it made it harder for him to make adjustments to teams once they adjusted to him. He seems to try and "pre-out scheme" people and once they catch up to it he just can't figure it out. I honestly am at a loss as a Jet fan lol. Vicious89x
HOT97 needs to stay with the music.... enough with the sports interviews... Well they got some good talk out of TJ. Better then. "He's our QB, he's a legend, I love playing for him, he's a great guy." Accountability is refreshing once in a while.
RutgersJetFan
Good post RJF... I still think Favre should hang them up however.. Depends, for me, it's not so much an ability thing as it is the fact that his relationship with the new coach is going to be such a distraction with the media. I'm not looking forward to the daily "are they getting along?" articles at all...and you just know Cimini's going to be putting those up twice per day for the entire summer. Imagine if the new coach wants a competition. UGH. That's why I think we need a REAL strong personality. Harbaugh was that in Baltimore, he came in, is a tough ass but knew who to get on his side. Just like he did in 2006. There was actually a report I read the he wore his SB ring on the flight out to the SF game, in order to get the guys to realize what was at stake. It didn't work. Then you have Mangini coaching not to lose, the defense falling apart and it's just a recipe for disaster with Favre... Regardless though, that across the field pass in Seattle was one of the dumbest things I've ever seen and I just don't want a guy who still hasn't figured out how to control himself and now has declining physical skills on top of it. He seems unable to throw anything that requires some air under it anymore. It's not his accuracy, but more his touch and timing that were really bad this year.. Essentially, you think that Favre is an old female porn star. There's a time when they have to realize, "perhaps Skin-a-max is a better option at this point in my life." talisaynon
AHAHHAHAHAHAH I can't believe how many fuc king Favre apologists there are, blaming it on Mangini. THE PLAYERS THEMSELVES ARE BLAMING FAVRE AND THINK MANGINI SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN FIRED. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT? DO YOU GUYS LIVE IN FANTASY LAND WHERE 1 + 1 = 67??? SERIOUSLY HOW MUCH EVIDENCE DO YOU WANT THAT FAVRE, NOT MANGINI, KILLED THIS TEAM??? Cotchery CALLED HIM OUT TJ CALLED HIM OUT Kris Jenkins CALLED HIM OUT Kerry Rhodes CALLED HIM OUT Woody CALLED HIM OUT Rediculous. Favre KILLED the locker room. No one wanted to play for someone who KEPT TURNING THE BALL OVER. There is no chicken-or-egg scenario here. FAVRE WAS HORRIBLE down the stretch. Obviously Mangini is at fault here as well, as is the DC and the OC- but FAVRE is the main reason WE COLLAPSED down the road. NOT MANGINI.

JMJ
Fantastic stuff, RJ! I'm pissed that JMJ didn't do that analysis. That was a great post, but sometimes I forget that the masses can't figure this stuff out on their own. Wasn't it blatantly obvious to everyone that Chad was pretty good pre-Schottenheimer (I blame the offense on him, not Mangini), terrible with Schottenheimer, and now good again without him? Wasn't it equally as obvious that pre-Schottenheimer Favre was a 2007 MVP candidate and with Schottenheimer he sucked? Again, it was a great post by RJF (love how he provided the stats), but it was something I didn't feel needed to be pointed out because it was so glaringly obvious.
