RSJ
That puts him at the top of the list for sure. But not far behind is the Maryland coach who suspends 7 players, then works them into the second half of the game and they all tear up a worn down opponent. Well did he announce that they wouldn't play or did he just say he wouldn't start them?
RSJ
Well did he announce that they wouldn't play or did he just say he wouldn't start them? He announced that they were suspended. I think everyone including the opposing coaches assumed that meant they wouldn't play.
aec4
He announced that they were suspended. I think everyone including the opposing coaches assumed that meant they wouldn't play. I heard they were not starting prior to the game. If I heard it, and the xyz bowl type bowls bore me, Im sure the opponent heard it. Now can someone explain to me why there are 119 D1-A teams and 34 bowl games, meaning 57.1% of D1-A makes a bowl game.

Lil Bit Special
That'sthe thing, how do those 6-6 v 7-5 bowl games make a dime? Sponsors. Bowl games only exist if there is a sponsor for them.

Nobody, but with the amount of times the Bowl sponsor is mentioned online and on the news and in newspapers,it makes it worthwhile for the sponsors. And in the end, the only thing that matters is everyone makes money.

Lil Bit Special
money is key... 10000 mentions with 6 people watching its not the people watching. its the people who hear the name on the news, on sportscenter, see it in a bowl pickem game. That is where it becomes valuable.
faba
Teams split up the bowl money- the towns get hotel and people traveling in to the game so it works for them. what is wrong with a smaller college and their fans have some reward for backing their team. They violated curfew and were all benched for a half. That is what the school said they were going to do. It is not like the were guilty of far more serious crimes you hear players being involved in. Also it is not like Nevada took advantage as they were losing 28-14 without those 7 players.
Irish Jet
Nothing wrong with running up the score but I don't like it when teams go that far out of their way to do so.
