gangreenman
They start 8-3, look like an elite team in the AFC and NFL, and proceed to collapse and choke in typical NYJ style to finish the season 9-7. The Owner's kneejerk reaction is to fire a promising young coach in Eric Mangini so that Brett Favre, whose teammates feel was a bigger part of the collapse than Mangini, can come back for another year to sell said owner more jerseys and sell better PR for his new stadium and PSL's. Oh yeah, it gets better too... Because whose our next coach going to be? Bill Cowher? Nope. Not interested. Mike Shannahan? Nope. Jets not interested. So, that leaves us with who? Interviews have been set up with Brian Schottenheimer, Bill Callahan, and Tony Spagnolo and Rex Ryan when their playoff campaigns end. So, we fire a 38 year old coach who was dealt an egotistical, overrage QB in a PR move for Favre, and now have our sites set on a 35 year old OC under said Head Coach. An OL coach who also has no NFL HC experience for said head coach, and two other "hot name", young, defensive ASSISTANTS just as a certain Eric Mangini was just three short years ago. The players are openly venting their frustration with ownership and management for firing Mangini, being unable to land anyone better, and now asking Brett Favre, who they believe was the real source to our failures this season, to come back and help sell more PR for the stadium. If you were a coach, a GM, or a player. does this sound like a franchise you would get excited about working for? Bill Billicheck has said that once Woody took over the organization, he no longer had the will to be a part of it. Now I know exactly where he was coming from. Happy New Year. Gyno-Tony
it didnt have to be this way. we had a decent team. we coulda been better next year if the dumb owner didnt force our hand. he screwed us. set us back 5 years, the dick. cap hell, no coach, no qb, no direction. he tried to buy a run and it blew up in his face. he blamed it on mangini..thats wrong. he needs to go. cant win with a doosh owner. All reports Ive read over the internet and everything I've seen on TV is that the Jets have 'minimal at best' interest in Shannahan. Guys been fired, and is looking for a new job. serphnx
Funny, you bitch and whine about this, but when you have a chance to let the message be heard by ownership you just snipe at each other and sabotage yourselves. You want to show the NYJ that they need to be run better? Don't buy tickets, don't watch the games. Quit. You don't have to root for another team or even keep watching football, although if you're a huge football fan those things will probably happen since you're a fan of the sport. Instead you guys attack people for saying they're no longer Jets fans. This is how you send a message. You don't owe anything to the organization, they owe you. Being a "real fan" when the franchise is run ineptly isn't a badge of honor, it's a mark of idiocy and has no commendability. If everybody stopped watching the Jets and going to the games, the NFL would step in quickly and get rid of Woody. They wouldn't stand for blackouts in the NFL's biggest market, the ripple down effect would crush the NFL.

Being a fan is suffering through the highs and lows. Not jumping ship because things arent going well. Being a fan is enjoying the journey, not the end result. People who quit on their team because they dont like decisions that are made arent fans. They are quitters.
