CTM
Good job Barton. Acknowledge Favre played bad while also acknowledging everyone else did. Thomas Jag could learn a thing or two..

Thomas Jag could learn a thing or two.. we should sell high on that mediocre, soft runningback.

JETfrmWOMBtoTOMB
I refuse to give Favre a pass on any of this, I don't care what the circumstances were, he failed at doing his job as a QB and that is final. The fact of the matter is that if he was anybody but Favre he would be getting murdered right now. But ESPN and others seem insistent on defending him. Last time I checked personality and hall of fame cache don't throw touchdowns so they don't really mean anything. And they mean a hell of alot less when the QB/Player in question wasn't drafted, developed and/or had all his glory with our organization. They may get you to the probowl but they ain't gonna give you a championship which is what we need most as an organization. (Contrary to that idiot Woody Johnson's belief) 2 touchdowns and 9 damn interceptions... gimme a freakin' break. If any other QB did that on our roster they'd burn his ass in efigy. Bugg
Barton as a person is a piece of garbage.Suffice to say I know a little something about some things that happened when he was at Maryland. He's a scumbag in every way. If he couldn't play football, he'd be collecting cans. As a linebacker, he's even worse. Crazy idea Eric-why didn't you catch that INT Pennington hit you with between the 5 and the 0? Are we gonna talk about how every team in the NFL knocks you back 7 yards? How running backs regularly drag you for a few more yards than they should? How you miss tackles and cannot cover a TE to save your life? Or are we gonna talk about leading the Jets in 15 yard dumbass penalties? STFU.What ever this douche has to say about Brett Favre is irrevelant. A good sign of the piss poor defense improving will be Eric Barton leaving Florham Park on a rail.
DMaynard
I was glad to hear that it turns out that Favre had a bum shoulder. I said during those games that there was no way somebody ages that fast in the middle of the season. And there is no doubt that the collapse was a whole lot more than just Favre's interceptions. That being said, and I still love Favre, those first 2 interceptions he threw in the Phins game were about as dumb as any I have ever seen. They were off the charts stupid. It was like he just didn't care. Bottom line is he will be 40 next year. It is time to hang it up and let this team move on. I am one of the few who wasn't thrilled with Cowher. But if Favre also negatively impacts the jets in their attempt to get a Shanahan, Spags or Ryan, that will hurt this franchise much more than his 2008 interceptions. Time to go, Brett. It's not about giving him a pass. It's highly questionable to me that players who had their own part in the collapse would call out Favre. That's all I'm saying. They should call themselves out first...

I respect Barton a lot for what he said because he's right. Sure, Favre did his part in f'ing things up for everyone, but he certainly was far from the only one. If Barton holds onto that ball in Miami he takes it back untouched and its a whole different ball game. There are plays like that all over the place in every loss and every player did their part in that collapse. And particularly the defense wasn't even contributing all that much in a lot of the Jets wins either, so they really have very little they should be saying about this.
