ECURB
Best Will Smith film yet, this movie is a heart wrenching flick but seriously good. It's a must see if you like these types of movies heck even if you don't it is worth seeing but don't expect a laugh and you also need to be prepared for "emotional detestation" as one critic said... It is a tear jerker... and not in the cheesy "chick flick" kind of way... in a seriously emotional way... Hands down his best work, beautifully done... 10/10 - 5 Stars

ECURB
not on my list, reviews have been terrible,, will wait for HBo A lot of critics gave it bad reviews because they couldnt handle it or they are religious... Go look at a site that uses user reviews... most are good... Its Smiths best movie yet. JB The backstory you are given is that Smith is a guy who works for the IRS and can change the lives of 7 people. The opening scene is smith soaking wet on the floor calling 911 saying that there is a suicide to report, when the ask who... he says his own. Thats part of the reason why some critics dont like it... they cant handle suicide...
ECURB
7.5/10 at IMDB.... with almost 10,000 votes... and is up 200% on their "movie meter" or whatever it is... critics came down hard on it because its a heart wrenching movie around the holidays... not everybody can handle it... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0814314/ This is how they explain the plot... An IRS agent with a fateful secret embarks on an extraordinary journey of redemption by forever changing the lives of seven strangers. Rosario Dawson is great in the movie... Woody plays a short but good role...

ECURB
Or because it sucks. It doesnt suck, and most user reviews are good... just some weak ass critics that couldnt handle it said ti sucks... It was Will SMiths best work... its not a bubbly comedy so it wont make the most money... but it is his best work... ALI did horrible in theaters too.... and then he won an academy award for it... same idea here... great movie but not for everybody...

I doubt it by using "pretentious" to describe it... this is not a casual movie... you need to become involved in it to get the full feel of it... and if you watch start to finish you cant help but get pulled in... I would love to just go off on why your wrong... but Im not going to give away the whole movie...

That's ok, though, I'm glad you liked it. Not everyone has the same tastes. A fictional movie... contrived? NO WAY! lol I think it sounds more like you had a hard time connecting emotionally to this movie... Either way I still recommend everybody goes and sees it... or at least Netflix it when it hits DVD...

It was either that or no flick tonite Well all I can say is.............. Thanks Ecurb..wife and I enjoyed..Not 4 stars, but i would say solid 2 1/2 to 3 ... My take.. This is a slow plodding human involvement plot driven flick that many younger reviewers have trouble 'hanging in there' with. It did bog down in some spots, but it was a refreshing nuance on a done before subject..It was very humanistic and you needed to really let go of 'I want typical movie stuff here entertainment' to embrace it. NOW, I think part of this flicks problem (iffy reviews and horrid box office) was thier decision to go mainstream thater circuit..IMHO this is a Indie flick ALL THE WAY!!!! They should have marketed this flcik as a Indie, gotten the Indie crown AND the Indie reviewers to give it more favorable reviews and word of mouth. It then could have crossed over. Rachel Getting Married followed this strategy as did Slumdog Millionaire. This was a Indie and never should have been marketed as a mainstream INITIALLY as it is 99% dialouge driven.. Just my 2 cents, but again, thanks ECURB, we enjoyed.

I can also see how some people would like it and some people wouldn't. I really liked Rosario Dawson in this movie. And +1 on the dialogue driven part about it.
