villain_the_foe
http://nyj.scout.com/2/826800.html Marty and Shanahan not being considered By Dan Leberfeld Posted Jan 2, 2009 It's unclear who the next Jets coach is going to be, but we can tell you two guys it's not going to be. According to an NFL source, Marty Schottenheimer and Mike Shanahan aren't being considered for the job. The Jets want to have a GM running the personnel department and the head coaching running the team. Schottenheimer and Shanahan are two guys who clearly want to have final say over personnel decisions. Also, the Jets want a coach who is going to be with them for a long-time. Marty and Mike might not fight that criteria. And in all fairness to Schottenheimer and Shanahan, it's unclear if they even wanted the job. RutgersJetFan
So either Cimini or Leberfield have the story wrong. This is like when you have two buddies who are full of sh-t and the've both claimed to have nailed the same chick while insisting that the other guy is lying. 124
ESPN is reporting an unknown team is showing interest in the Raiders' Tom Cable for their Head Coaching vacancy. His contract expires January 13th so if they want to keep him they have to lock him up in the next 10 days. Watch it be the ****ing Jets. :rl:

gang_green03
Suprisingly, this story would actually show that they're smarter than I thought since Shanahan's terrible personel decisions are the reason he was fired in the first place.

Klecko73isGod
we should have the coach have most of the say in personel Not if that coach is Shanahan. He has done a horrific job of drafting in Denver. Its a big part of the reason he lost his job.

RoadFan
we should have the coach have most of the say in personel That would be a BIG mistake. Shanahan, for the most part, has drafted horribly and spent unwisely in free agency.
