...But the New York Daily News reported on Saturday that Johnson is out of the country and not involved in the early interviews. The Daily News story claimed Johnson's unavailability was the final straw in Cowher's decision not to meet with the Jets.

...Then again, Spagnuolo is a popular prospect and will interview with the Denver Broncos, an organization with ownership that is being praised to no end by the coach they just fired.

I think Woody is making a GIANT mistake by not being around while his franchise is in chaos and about to make a monumental decision.

Not really... a decision wont be made until the playoffs are over or near over and Im sure he will sit and talk with the real prospects by then...

Seems like what he wasnt going to do was offer Cowher a ****load of money just so he can go try to top it...

My $1 billion asset, in the mdist of trying to sell PSLs, is in total turmoil.

Vacation, ba-bay!

If he wanted to go partying he should've kept Mangini.

Nothing important Jimmy...same old ****. Just another writer putting his negative spin on the Jets.

ESPN is a joke...they clearly have some kind of weird agenda going on.

How many articles did we see this week with contradicting reports...one guy would say this guy ain't coaching, then another guy says he won't coach The JETS only to be contradicted again by another irresponsible pinhead-like Clayton

It is just poor business. Cower is above interviewing with Woody's monkeys before "getting a chance to meet with the man." Why would Cower want to work for someone that operates the way Woody does?

Why would Woody want to meet with a guy who just wants to up the bids?

Cowher clearly is not ready to make the decision and will at least wait until the season is over... why should Woody sit down with him now?

Cower is just one example. Woody would not have had to make an offer yet anyway. He is the owner of this team. His team needs a coaching staff. Many other teams need coaches, otherwise known as competitors. Their owners are a part of the interview process. The Broncos owner flew to meet with SPags; Woody flew the coup.

They do. Buster Olney, Peter Gammons.

the Broncos don't have a GM currently, neither do the Browns!

There were rumors that Tanny's role would be reduced if Cower were to come aboard. It would be awkward for Tanny to interview Cower without Woody being there to clarify the situation. Regardless, if a business owner is going to make a major hire, then he/she should be a part of the interviews, in my humble opinion. If Tanny is, in fact, the decision maker, then Woody should be there to explain that.

How does Mangini look good? The team that he lost the division to on week 17 just embarrassed themselves.

Exactly.

And Cleveland wanting Mangini means what exactly? They aren't the model franchise at this point.

I am all for killing the Jets. But they set out to raise the bar. They (Woody) says playoffs and out is not good enough. Chad represents one and done. They looked to better themselves of that and I can not knock them for that.

Mangini was out coached all year long. Not once or twice. All year.

ESPN, sadly, has become a joke. One nite I watched the scrawl at the bottom say " Jets and Bill Cowher have mutual interest in meeting to discuss the Jets HC vacancy". 30 seconds later Sports Center comes on, their opening story... " Bill Cowher is NOT interested in the Jets job and will NOT meet with team officials ". WTF ? :rl:

Funny, Jay Glazier just reported that the Jets are being more thorough than any other team with their interviews. He said they are having the candidates meet with every division of the organization.

Except the owner, of course! :rl:

You do realize almost every corporation in the land doesn't have candidates meet with the owner right? Or, if they do, its not on the 1st interview. Think of the owner as sex. Sometimes you get it on the 1st interview/date, but most times it takes to the 2nd at least.

The Jets franchise is in deep $hit. For some reason, Woody Johnson is enamoured with Tennenbaum. Mr. T has never coached or scouted....but somehow he has Johnsons ear and is basically calling the shots. Its a scary situation (actually its a joke) that we have a lawyer running our football operations.

I am praying that we bring Parcells into the front office. I have just a bit more confidence in him than Mr. T.

The guy has been working in the NFL for the past 13 years. Can we please get past this load of crap about him being nothing more than a lawyer? If you were with the same company for 13 years, would you expect to be stuck in one position the entire time based solely on your qualifications when you first took the job? It doesn't make any damn sense.

And besides, what decisions have been made that were particularly so bad? Chad today just proved EVERYTHING said about him that lead to him being replaced. Mangini was awful and needed to be fired, and the fact that the Browns are interested doesn't change that. Hell, name me one Browns coach who hasn't been an absolute disaster since that franchise came back.

It is time for our owner to be a little more provocative, to stay with your analogy. If we want a second date with a big name coach, we are going to have to give them a reason to go out with us again. Not sure if you looked in the mirror recently, but the Jets are like a butterface. Yes, people would sleep with us, but they wouldn't admit it.

We are not talking about a WRs coach here. The team is interviewing for No. 3 in the chain of command, possibly No. 2. It is not the end of the World, and I am not trying to make too much of it, but it is just yet another example of Woody's poor business model.

If I was the owner I would hire someone that has at least SOME type of coaching or scouting experience. I would look at the facts...thats the Jets have not won a SB in 40 years. That except for a handful of seasons over the years, this franchise has been stuck in medicority

Im not saying to kick Mr. T to the curb, however this franchise is in a bit of disarray at the moment. Giving him uber power is fuking retarded.
