This flick has generated some firestorms over trivilizing Holocaust. I didnt see that at all and basically see this piece as a tale of young love and its drastic imolications throoughtout one boys life. The war theme is interspresed later but the main plot is the love story of a older woman, 35, and a young , 16 year old boy. The war theme make sthe personality and relationship twists more clear but the impact on a persons life of 1st love is the main theme here.

Guilt is magnified and one has to make thier own mind up wheter guilt wa spresent of indifference. This unknown helps the films dark mood.

Ralph Fiennes, Kate Winslet, David Kross are all superb. Male and female Full frontal nudity warning if any one is thinking of taking younger kids.

well art cant ignore it...

I'm not saying I disagree, it's just the fictionalized stories developing (however much they claim to be based on reality) combined with the Rosenblat incident this past few weeks. There was a great article written by an Emory professor recently about how such things serve to provide denial proponents more ammo, especially since we're heading into a decade where the last survivors are going to eventually pass. Perhaps the Rosenblat incident has me skewed in my thinking as it's come right in the face of several Holocaust movies being released from Hollywood, but there's a fictionalization that's been occuring as of recently that I'm just not happy with. I think in this country, it's an aspect that's not as recognized since Holocaust rememberance is important here, but throughout several areas of Europe it is still very much a signifigant problem.

Regardless, I didn't mean to sidetrack your movie thread. Sorry if I did.
