TNJet
Please tell me this isnt some of Woody's BS just to get Favre to return...He was the Packers offensive coordinator in 06. What are your thoughts?? I hate the thoughts of getting a college head coach honestly, very few make impact in the pros. I'd rather have B. Schott than this guy. Carrol was an NFL head coach for multiple teams and a coordinator for multiple teams. (he was a D coordinator and HC of the NYJ)
BroadwayJoe12
Ummm... Carrol was an NFL head coach for multiple teams and a coordinator for multiple teams. (he was a D coordinator and HC of the NYJ) Albeit with a ****ty record. His point was clearly that you shouldn't just be looking at a college head coach due to his college record alone; Carrol benefits from phenomenal recruiting and a fiery attitude that pumps his kids up, not something that translates directly to NFL coaching. I think it's a good think that Mikey T is searching everywhere and holding interviews. Everyone assumes Spags is a great HC candidate becuase he's a fiery emotional coach, who has put together a great defense over the last couple of years. However, if he interviews and doesn't have his **** together than he's not the best candidate. I like what's going on

How is everyone certain he wouldn't succeed? Yes, history has shown that most college coaches aren't successful in the NFl, but does that mean that every single college coach can't be successful in the NFL no matter what? jason423
He knows Favre and is coach at the school where Tom Coughlin was coach many years ago. Sounds like a perfect mix for Woody.
KSJets
Maybe they aren't just interviewing him for the head coaching position? If Mangini gets the Cleveland job, you know he's going to want some of his assistants there with him. Perhaps they're interviewing him, just in case, our QB coach leaves. Look what he did for Matt Ryan, maybe they're thinking of bringing him in as the new QB coach to develop some of our young QBs.

He was a top NFL DC before the Jets promoted him to HC. Carroll's predecessor at USC also should have benefited from superior recruiting. He instead the program was a joke under his guidance. You ought to know his name; he was our OC for 4 years. If it was all about recruiting then any fool - particularly a HC as smart as the one that the brilliant Chad Pennington considers a great football mind - should have been able to at least come close to Carroll's success there. That being said I hope we do not hire Pete Carroll as HC.

He only had Matt Ryan for his sr. year. He was already good by then.

Believe me, I'm a BC fan, and I know that Matt Ryan wasn't good his first three years. We sucked royally before Jag came.
