The next coach of the Jets will be coaching in the playoffs this weekend, write that down.

Can't lose with Spags either!!!!!! Did anyone else hear on Boomer & Carton or Joe and Evan (I can't remember what show it was) that Rex Ryan already declared that he would be a great head coach?

I did hear Boomer mention that the one drawback in an owners eyes is that Ryan is a bit of a madman that speaks his mind and is not the suit and tie type that presents a nice public face for the franchise. He is probably very much like his old man. Personally all I care about is the product on the field, give me an effin winner, please!!!!

I didn't hear how he said it. And it affects what he said.

If he was asked if he thinks he'd be good, etc. and his response (while seeking a HC job) was a relaxed, off-the-cuff, "Yeah, man. I think I'd make a great head coach," then there's nothing wrong with that.

If he stood up like Napoleon with his hand tucked inside his coat and announced, "I declare that I will be a great head coach," then he's a loon.

Anyone actually see or hear the Q&A for themselves that can shed any light on this?

Napoleon. That's why I didn't like it- he just came out and made a declaration.

Call me crazy, but I actually like this. This team and organization needs a little swagger.

I heard the whole quote at IS taken a lil out of context....it was a long rambling quote and that sentence is just one part of it. Its not like he stood on the mountaintops with his hair on fire proclaiming he was Belli/Holmgren/Bill Walsh all rolled into 1.

The only way Schitt gets this job is if the others turn it down. Otherwise they could have Rich Kotited hiim in after Mangini got canned.

I COMPLETELY DISAGREE

It seems the strategy is to interview everyone to show due dilligence to the fans. does anyone else notice how after evey interview the Jets conduct there are rumblings about how the guy came in unprepared/didnt know his stuff?? This is the FO's way of appeasing the fans by doing interviews, the whole time knowing the are gonna disparage the guy being interviewed so it makes it easier to hire SCHOTT.

If they hired SCHOTT right off the bat everyone here wouldve went nuts

Its called Public Relations and Johnson and Johnson has one of the best PR firms in the world

Welcome to the new world/corporate version of your fathers New York Jets.......where PR and market studies trump football know-how!

WHAT A JOKE

Anything is better than coach mangini's proclamations of the past 3 years. He never said anything of importance. Ryan would be a lot less painful to watch. I also never liked the gum chewing. I thought it was infantile.

UMMMMM, if anyone remembers Buddy Ryan was a much better defensive coordinator than head coach. Sometimes these coordinators have been locked in a drak room watching film for so long they forget about the "people part" of football as opposed to the "X's and O's part"

Buddy had a hard time putting the face on to fans and media and something tells me his son will be the same way.......lets call it combative!

No way.

Unless everyone else turns them down. If they believed in him, they would have done it already. To do it after they get done interviewing all of these other candidates, when he is in house and has been available all along, will send the message that he is leftovers, whether he actually was or not.

For the record if anyone actually does the hand in coat declaration, they will have immediately gained my undying love and support.
